Brick Walls - How to remove and replace bricks?

I managed to accidentally lay my bricks the wrong way on the pub wall. I also managed to accidentally remove the inter-brick mortar. How do I pick up the layed bricks and re-mortar?

I think the inter brick mortar missing is a bug, It doesn't seem you can actually place the mortar in between yourself after the fact.

Does it matter if you put the bricks in the wrong orientation? I saw a youtuber cutting some bricks in half and I believe he was able to still complete it without issues.

How do you cut bricks in half?

You can buy the brick cutter add-on for the hammer from the shop. I forget what it's called, but it lets you use the hammer on the bricks to cut it in 2 squares.
