Mortar sizes and issue with half bricks?

Before the new update you could lay out different sizes of mortar. You could right click and put a little dollop for a half brick. I haven't played in a bit and was waiting for this free build update so I'm not sure whether this was an intended change or is a bug, but I can no longer make a little dollop of mortar for a half-brick. Right click only swaps the orientation of a normal amount of mortar from horizontal to vertical and no longer cycles through the various sizes. I can't place the half-brick beside the door to the house when rebuilding the brickwork because the only mortar i can put there is a full sized amount, which causes the half brick to glitch and become unplaceable. Am I missing something? Is there still a way to make the small mortar? Has anyone else had this issue?

You need to keep your finger held down on the right mouse button and you'll get a UI for full bricks, half bricks and breeze block mortar

Can someone pleas tell me how to buy Alf bricks cus I can put the mortar down but cant put the brick cus it is too big

You don't buy half bricks, you need to have the hammer and chisel to split them in half, equip the hammer, aim at the brick, click & hold, brick splits, sorted... :)
