Trouble placing mortar
I'm fixing the pub wall, but I'm having trouble placing mortar on the first layer of bricks I placed. The normal shapes don't show up, only the smallest blobs, meaning I can then only lay bricks on their end (which is wrong).

Any ideas?

Okay I think this may have just been me not understanding how to place the right shape mortar at the beginning of the job, and this then restricted how bricks could be laid afterwards. Once I basically undid everything and started again I didn't have any problems.

use the RMB to change the size of the blobs for standard bricks use the 2nd largest blob also place them on top of the joins so the bricks are offset to the previous layer.

hope this helps

Chances are you were (almost) out of mortar. This happened to me a few times and it was because I had enough mortar left for a small blob, but not enough for the larger blobs.

Thanks, but I don't think it was either of those issues. I was cycling through the various Rt-click options, but nothing was showing up as green. And I checked twice the board was full of mortar.

As I said, I think it was just the case that when I did the bottom row I made some mistakes (because at that point I didn't know about the different shapes) - although it looked okay, it must have bugged it somehow. After I ripped out all the first layer of bricks and mortar underneath, I was then able to place mortar without issue all the way to the top of the wall.
