Mosin-Nagant upgrade barrel
Why isn't the relatively rare 7.62 MG barrel used to fire the Mosin-Nagant's cartridge type of 7.62x54R used instead of the 6.8mm barrel in the game? That barrel would require a new receiver and probably not have the damage or range of the 7.62x54R cartridge. People have put the MG barrel on Mosin-Nagant rifles.

Are you referring to the 650mm Reinforced Barrel? I've got several barrel parts, and none of them reference a cartridge size.

Yeah, that's the one. Standard M-N barrel is 710mm, the carbine is 540mm (if I recall the properly). I know the game doesn't list cartridge size. We're seeing the correct scope for the Sniper variant, but the wrong barrel length. I'm not familiar with a 'reinforced' barrel, but there was an MG with the correct barrel dimensions, its heavier than the standard barrel. Don't know what that would for would do for overall ballistics, but would be a better heat sink. My 91/30 gets damned hot after 30 rounds, sore shoulder, too.

Honestly, this is really interesting as a dude with nearly no gun knowledge. I assume a heavier gun means less recoil, in the same way pushing a heavier object is harder?

Not really sure how the ballistics would work, but if it's any help, the further upgrades are longer barrels - the longest I have is the 1000mm Heavy Barrel (spoilered in case you want to figure out item names for yourself, it's really minor)

Well remember that Mendo basically has a universal constructor on his shoulder, compatibility issues are less of a problem when you can arbitrarily change the construction of any object you possess with reverse collapse magic.
