In short, this game is a really fun little game to play on and off every so often. Recommend if you like rts style games that are less hardcore than things like DOTA and Starcraft.

I like to play this game every so often such as when I've brought my laptop somewhere and I can't use my main PC or when I just feel like playing something chilled out. There are sometimes small frustrations with the game such as when you might leave your base for 30 seconds to check another sector and you'll come back to half your base wrecked for no reason but the game is still very fun even with those small issues.

In terms of challenge, I've only played the OG (purple) planet not the newer (orange) one (I'm not a fan of how the gameplay/mechanics completely change on the new planet) so I can't give an opinion on that one. I wouldn't say the game is overly difficult, I managed to beat the final level without needing to unlock the giant late game units and I only used the basic ground, flyers and boats as I found that the difficulty of the levels genuinely didn't warrant grinding for the late game units.

The online coop is iffy as you have to choose who can research new tech and your accounts don't sync up so if one person researches something it doesn't unlock it on the other persons which I would have liked to have seen so that you could do full playthroughs with friends.

I would only wish there was more to the OG style of game. As I said, I'm not a massive fan of the orange planet, since it forces you to completely start from scratch and relearn everything in a style that just didn't feel nice to play.

Overall, very fun game to play every so often when you want to chill out
