7.0 Heat Redirector?
I can't figure out where heat is meant to come from for the Heat Redirector building or, by extension, the new Surge Crucible. I've tried multiple kinds of terrain, I've tried setting it adjacent to different combustion buildings, nothing. If it's explained somewhere I missed it :( Has anyone figured it out? It looks like a lot of the 7.0 tech tree is locked behind surge alloy.

Really enjoying the changes to 7.0 for the most part! I like how resource gathering has been complicated, it's like a whole new game.

I haven't gotten that far yet, but i know there's a building that produces heat. Fluid processing things with electrolysis or something. It was introduced in the Swamp map.

Oxidation Chamber, which produces Oxide.

If you look on one sidewall of the Oxy Chamber, you'd see an Orange marker, that marker indicates the side that 'Heat' will be transferred out of, if adjacent to a heat transferable block. (5 'heat units', maximum)

Since the Oxy Chamber is a 3x3 block, each 1x1 section of the side transfers a small portion of the total heat from that 3x3 block. If you want the entire amount of heat to be transferred, you need to connect all 3 blocks of the 'heat' side to obtain the full 5 units of heat.

A full 3-block sidewall of a single Oxy Chamber will provide 50% of the necessary heat to run a Surge Crucible. So, to run a Surge Crucible to 100% rate, it will need the heat from 2 'heat-connected' Oxy Chambers (or 10 total 'heat units').

Later on in the tech tree, there will also be blocks that generate heat directly from things like raw power, then later from slag and phase fabric and also blocks that can be used to transfer said heat to where it is needed.

When I first saw that the Oxide Chamber was producing heat, I thought it was a similar mechanic to the Thorium Reactor, and would go 'boom' if it overheated.... so I built them far away from my Cores and other factories. After a while (and no 'Booms'), I figured it was just some new mechanic that I hadn't unlocked yet. Once I saw the Crucible, I immediately recognized and linked the two items for instant success.

Ohhhh! I thought that arrow was where the oxide was output for some reason. Thank you so much Kyrros and Zafflis. I was afraid I'd have to wait for an update, haha. Looking forward to another session a lot more now :3
How do Heat Redirectors work though? I thought it would be like a Heat Mass Driver or a gigantic Heat Conveyer but no dice, I have absolutely no clue how these work xD

It is gigantic heat conveyor. You have the basic block to move it forward (and take heat in from all other sides) and router that can split the heat in 3 directions.
Oh okay, so I just don't have all the pieces yet

I'm not that far, but there is the Oxidbuilding, a Heatoven that uses power and 2 Buildings that directs heat from one to the next, but doesn't create any.
Also a Building that create Heat from Lava...

Heat Directors are truly awful. They're so massive yet you can't even power more than one building with them. Completely impractical.
