Reset Sector
Just starting out here. Is there any way to reset a messy sector and start over with a blank slate?

AFAIK the only way to truly get that behavior is to make a backup via Settings / Game Data / Export Data before every sector. You probably noticed there is an option to abandon a sector, but that doesn't take you back to the game state you had before the flawed attempt. Launch resources are gone, some of the wrong defenses you built in the wrong places will still be there, etc.
Purists might disapprove; I generally saved state before launching to any eradication sector.

Thanks for the answer! I might end up doing that.

BTW, the first Guardian encounter is hilarious.

"Guardian Approaching in 10 waves..."
"Guardian Approaching in 5 waves..."
"Guardian Approaching in 2 waves..."
"Guardian Approaching in 1 wave..."
"Okay, here's the Guardian, it ignores all your defenses and requires beefier ammo, plus it spawns from a completely different side of the map :D have fun."

It's okay though, because I barely had any infrastructure around my core that time. Easy restart I guess.

Enemies try to go after power sources (generators/batteries) first (especially noticeable when fighting flying enemies). I blocked off the top routes so enemies would walk all the way to the top right corner. Built a bunch of electric turrets to kill things on the ground. Built a bunch of bullet turrets with good ammo around power sources just for the boss.
