2.) The Refab has only one output side, so make sure you're not accidentally trying to load your belt into that single output side instead of one of the input sides... the graphics can be a bit subtle once it's already built... whereas while building, there's a huge arrow indicating the output direction. (While the 'Assembler' can input belts from the two sides, I've never tried to load a 'Refab' itself from the sides, perhaps it can only load belts from the rear?)
3.) Ensure that is does not already contain a unit (Again. the graphics are a little more subtle for Erekir 'upgrade' facilities). Partailly dismantling then reconstructing will reset the contents, if needed to make room for a new ship.
4.) Make sure you're attempting to place the right unit in the Refab. Refabricators upgrade T1 units to T2... so in this case make sure you're trying to insert the hovering T1 'Elude', so that it will upgrade into the flying T2 'Avert'.
If you're trying to upgrade a T2 to a T3, you're using the wrong facility. THAT will require the 'Ship Assembler', which ironically, takes T1's for the T3 unit and T2's for the T4 unit.
After that, I got nothing...?
Firstly, after being told yesterday to "research Arkycite" and spending OVER AN HOUR stuck, trying to actually research a material, I finally found out that "researching" Arkycite meant: build a pump and a conduit.
Add to that the fact that with the Fabricators, I never remember researching the units after researching the building itself.
So I had this notion in my head that "researching" an Avert meant building my first Avert. Turns out that "research" in this particular case actually meant researching the unit.
This is a very counter-intuitive game.
