bought it, played it for an hour, and i already see conveyors n stuff when i close my eyes

Mindustry has some interesting resource collection mechanics that are balanced with base defense and expansion.

Expansion usually spreads your base more thinly, which makes defense more difficult. This back and forth balance feels very good.

I have a few gripes with the game that revolve around forced strategies, especially if they are not telegraphed properly. These mostly revolve around early level attacks, where on some maps you MUST build some air defense immediately or your base will simply be overrun 5 minutes after starting a map. The more egregious is that some bosses are so different from the mobs you face in the level that they easily overcome your defenses (which previously were impervious to attack), causing you to lose the level. This feels very frustrating as they "strategy" is to replay the whole level while keeping in mind the special requirements of THIS boss, so you can deal with them when they arrive.
These situations were always surprising and frustrating. I never felt "well, I should have known to prepare for that".

But generally the game is very good, and on the whole I enjoyed it a lot, aside from those minor gripes.

And, from the very moment I started this game, I knew I would never touch grass again. 11/10 the game is great, but way too addictive to recomend.
