In the meantime, you can still play if you don't mind do some things manually.
Edit the profile by double clicking on the name in the left pane. In the "Custom Root/Game Path" paste in your full path to the game exe, like mine is "W:\Games\KingdomComeDeliverance\bin\Win64MasterMasterEpicPGO"
That will bring the game to being seen as installed by HelixVision.
The install process will still fail though, because the fix has a hard coded path in it, that matches only the Steam version. That's OK, we can just manually install the fix for now.
Download the fix file or look for the Profile Folder in the UI when running in hacker-mode. In the KCD-3DV-Fix-4.05_Performance_LOSTI.zip file, copy the user cfg files into the game folder "KingdomComeDeliverance". Then drill down to the "bin\Win64" folder. Copy all of those files into the full EGS path where the exe resides. "..\KingdomComeDeliverance\bin\Win64MasterMasterEpicPGO\"
That will have the fix installed in the right spot, with the cfg files overriding files in the right spot.
Please let me know if you try this and have any problems. Not a problem if you'd rather wait for the supported profile.
BTW the exe file from game folder doesn't start the regular game for me at all. Starting screen appears and then some error occurs soon after. Although I can normally start the game from shortcut Epic created or from Epic launcher itself. Then it lounches without problems. I think this might be the major problem with the exe path.
If everything fails I'll just wait for dedicated profile. No biggie. Thanks for helping.
@FastLawyer - There is no **shipping**.exe enywhere in the installation folder, only one KingdomCome.exe and that's it.
Does this game work in offline mode? If it doesn't then you're in the same boat as me with Outward. I don't think it will work unless there's a work around to starting the game from the EGS launcher.
The weird thing is that every other EGS game I have tried does work offline. I haven't personally tried Kingdom Come Deliverance since I own the Steam version.
I don't know how to get around that issue, I've tried everything I can think of. Maybe Bob or somebody with more experience with this technical issue. There must be a way to launch with the internet shortcut to signal EGS to startup the game.
Epic has managed to break nearly everything about PC gaming by not installing this as a proper app from Windows' perspective. There is no uninstall, and the PC doesn't even know it exists. Changing the path and not being able to directly launch is pretty hostile, especially for modders.
Right now, it won't be possible to even run this game using HelixVision because of the locked out exe. This is the first game from anyone; Steam, Ubisoft, Origin, Blizzard, GoG that does not allow running from the exe, which breaks our launch mechanism.
I'll look into what it will take as a workaround, because this game is truly stellar with Losti's fix in 3D. It'll be a few days though- I need to wrap up my work on curved screen first.
I'd say definitely leave the game installed, I should be able to look into this within the week. And this is a high-profile game, so I'd like to see the free version working as well. At a minimum, we can always setup something that requires launching directly out of the EGS.
Here is a command line you can use directly for this game, but I can't promise this will work smoothly. It can also be made into a shortcut.
..\HelixVision\Tools\katanga\katanga.exe --game-path "C:\Program Files (x86)\Epic Games\Launcher\Portal\Binaries\Win64\epicgameslauncher.exe" --waitfor-exe "kingdomcome.exe" --launch-type Exe
If you navigate to the Katanga folder, you can run katanga directly like this and pass the parameters. This will bring up the EpicGameStore, then wait for kingdomcome.exe to show up in the process list. You can then click on Launch in the EGS, which will launch game.
I've tested this as functional with EGS version, Katanga will connect and show in VR.
Not positive this will run in 3D- I'm seeing an old problem where the game shows in HelixVision, but only in 2D. 3D on main screen. YMMV.
Edit: I've gotten this to successfully work in stereo by setting the checkbox on exe properties for DisableFullscreenOptimizations. I'll be setting up a profile specifically for the EGS version to smooth all this out.
Also, Outward does crash upon trying to exit game. Not sure why. It runs smoothly and looks great while playing. *shrug*
Please let me know if it doesn't work for you.
Thanks very much for the info. It was faster than expected. I will surelly give it a try!
