HelixVision

Kingdom Come Deliverance from Epic Store
Anyone with some luck with it? For me Helix Vision doesn't even see the game installed even though I added every folder leading to the instalation folder and executable to the program paths. Everything is on and 3d vision is available. Is there a way to run it? I added the paths to the exe but with no luck and program reports error that install path is not relative path. There is no other exe in the install folder. I've read couple of threads here with some games from Epic Store working so thought that it can be done.

I have played games from the Epic Store without problem. The hardest part is getting both the install path correctly and the relative path. Also, make sure you're launching directly from exe and not steam and that you have the correct exe (with Unreal Engine, usually the first one you see is not the correct one, it's the one that will say **shipping**.exe

The profile is setup for the Steam version. For whatever reason, Epic changes the folder layouts, which breaks the install. I'll add another profile for the EGS version in the next update to HelixVision.

In the meantime, you can still play if you don't mind do some things manually.

Edit the profile by double clicking on the name in the left pane. In the "Custom Root/Game Path" paste in your full path to the game exe, like mine is "W:\Games\KingdomComeDeliverance\bin\Win64MasterMasterEpicPGO"

That will bring the game to being seen as installed by HelixVision.

The install process will still fail though, because the fix has a hard coded path in it, that matches only the Steam version. That's OK, we can just manually install the fix for now.

Download the fix file or look for the Profile Folder in the UI when running in hacker-mode. In the KCD-3DV-Fix-4.05_Performance_LOSTI.zip file, copy the user cfg files into the game folder "KingdomComeDeliverance". Then drill down to the "bin\Win64" folder. Copy all of those files into the full EGS path where the exe resides. "..\KingdomComeDeliverance\bin\Win64MasterMasterEpicPGO\"

That will have the fix installed in the right spot, with the cfg files overriding files in the right spot.

Please let me know if you try this and have any problems. Not a problem if you'd rather wait for the supported profile.

Yes, I was trying to edit the profile before and tried the same path as you said (to "Win64MasterMasterEpicPGO" folder) but still program won't let me save it and shows the error I told you about, and could not recognize instalation still. I was just about to start copying files from the fix manually as you described. I will try the rest what you described a bit more later. I will post what came up.

BTW the exe file from game folder doesn't start the regular game for me at all. Starting screen appears and then some error occurs soon after. Although I can normally start the game from shortcut Epic created or from Epic launcher itself. Then it lounches without problems. I think this might be the major problem with the exe path.

If everything fails I'll just wait for dedicated profile. No biggie. Thanks for helping.

@FastLawyer - There is no **shipping**.exe enywhere in the installation folder, only one KingdomCome.exe and that's it.

Does this game work in offline mode? If it doesn't then you're in the same boat as me with Outward. I don't think it will work unless there's a work around to starting the game from the EGS launcher.

The weird thing is that every other EGS game I have tried does work offline. I haven't personally tried Kingdom Come Deliverance since I own the Steam version.

@FastLawyer - No it is not working Offline. Shows "Init of EOS has failed" the same error as when launching directly from exe. I guess I'm screwed?

I don't know how to get around that issue, I've tried everything I can think of. Maybe Bob or somebody with more experience with this technical issue. There must be a way to launch with the internet shortcut to signal EGS to startup the game.

This one is problematic. My co-author for HelixVision gave me a workaround for discovering the game automatically, but even with it being found, the game does not allow direct exe launch.

Epic has managed to break nearly everything about PC gaming by not installing this as a proper app from Windows' perspective. There is no uninstall, and the PC doesn't even know it exists. Changing the path and not being able to directly launch is pretty hostile, especially for modders.

Right now, it won't be possible to even run this game using HelixVision because of the locked out exe. This is the first game from anyone; Steam, Ubisoft, Origin, Blizzard, GoG that does not allow running from the exe, which breaks our launch mechanism.

I'll look into what it will take as a workaround, because this game is truly stellar with Losti's fix in 3D. It'll be a few days though- I need to wrap up my work on curved screen first.

Well, ok then. Shame that I bought your software just to play this game but didn't know that Epic can be so problematic. I think you should make a disclamer that it works mostly with Steam and others and not Epic. I won't refund since you have a good price and maybe I will use it for some other game but the problem is I don't play anything non VR anymore unless I can play it in 3D on HMD at least. I guess I uninstall it for now since it's 65gigs of dead weight now. I will check in some time if you made any progress but I won't keep my hopes up. Thanks anyway for trying.

Yes, sorry about that. I need to make it more clear on the store page that this is fundamentally a modding tool, and we are therefore at the mercy of a lot of the other software. It's just the nature of modding that things will break and need other workarounds.

I'd say definitely leave the game installed, I should be able to look into this within the week. And this is a high-profile game, so I'd like to see the free version working as well. At a minimum, we can always setup something that requires launching directly out of the EGS.

Here is a command line you can use directly for this game, but I can't promise this will work smoothly. It can also be made into a shortcut.

..\HelixVision\Tools\katanga\katanga.exe --game-path "C:\Program Files (x86)\Epic Games\Launcher\Portal\Binaries\Win64\epicgameslauncher.exe" --waitfor-exe "kingdomcome.exe" --launch-type Exe

If you navigate to the Katanga folder, you can run katanga directly like this and pass the parameters. This will bring up the EpicGameStore, then wait for kingdomcome.exe to show up in the process list. You can then click on Launch in the EGS, which will launch game.

I've tested this as functional with EGS version, Katanga will connect and show in VR.

Not positive this will run in 3D- I'm seeing an old problem where the game shows in HelixVision, but only in 2D. 3D on main screen. YMMV.

Edit: I've gotten this to successfully work in stereo by setting the checkbox on exe properties for DisableFullscreenOptimizations. I'll be setting up a profile specifically for the EGS version to smooth all this out.

Outward works! Looks stunning. Thanks for the fix. I created a desktop shortcut using the same syntax you used. The only thing is that you have to make sure Nvidia 3D is on before you start.

Also, Outward does crash upon trying to exit game. Not sure why. It runs smoothly and looks great while playing. *shrug*

Latest update to HelixVision of v0.8.60 now supports the EpicGameStore version of Kingdom Come. Should be found automatically, and allow a PlayInVR without any problems.

Please let me know if it doesn't work for you.
