Take a look at the main screen when it's up and running and see if you've got both eyes represented in the game window. If you are in red/blue Discover mode, you should see both red and blue offset images. If the stereo is not working, you'll only see one color.
This games launches super, super slow. Like 30 seconds before anything happens. If you click anywhere while it is launching, that brings it out of fullscreen 3D mode.
Try being extra patient after the launch. And also in the Settings, switch the game from fullscreen to windowed and back.
In my test here, it actually runs stereo while windowed, so that would be the optimal choice to setup the game, as then you don't have to worry about the startup. Can also use alt-enter to switch.
If you have 3D Vision hardware, set it to use anaglyph in the HelixVision/3DFM Display Profiles, as that is quite a bit more reliable on this game.
I did wait until it the game loads completely, and didn't press anything until the initial menu. I have no idea what red/blue Discover mode is... it's all in full color.. but just in one eye.
I'm not using 3D vision hardware... I have a WMR Samsung Odyssey+.
Is there a chance I just have a driver version that works fine for PinballFX3 and Rine, but for some reason doesn't work for Ori? I'm using WIndows 10 version 1809 and nVidia 441.41.
You can tell that by looking at your monitor where the game will be displaying, and it won't be showing the double image like we expect when 3D is active. It will just look like a 2D game. When 3D Vision is active for a given game, you'll see a double image on the main monitor (not in VR). Usually we expect the NVidia Discover mode to be active, which is the old school red/blue anaglyph 3D I'm sure you've seen before. This is what we expect to see on your main monitor when 3D is active.
WMR Odyssey+ and 1809 and 441.41 should work fine I think. Odyssey+ is not actually a 3D Vision hardware. When we talk about 3D Vision hardware, this is the NVidia branded monitors and shutter glasses for standard 3D. They had a certification program for things to be certified 3D Vision Ready. Not necessary here, we can use their Discover mode.
An example of 3D hardware is my PG278QR monitor, which is 3D Vision ready, and works with the 3D Vision glasses.
I just tested Ori: Definitive Edition, and had a little trouble getting it to start in 3D. But now that it's working it seems fine and works every time.
Let's do a couple of tests first. Go to the Nvidia control panel, and click on the Set Up Stereoscopic 3D section. In there make sure that Enable stereoscopic checked, and display type is 3D Vision Discover.
Once that is setup, click the Test stereoscopic 3D button below the main box. This will show a test image in red/blue Discover mode with a spinning NVidia logo. We just want to be sure to see it is working in red/blue. Esc to quit that.
If that is working, then go to HelixVision, and put it into hacker-mode. Click Settings tab, then choose the Use program for: 3D Vision instead of Virtual Reality. This will allow you to test Ori in normal 3D, without any VR involved. Click the Play 3D button to launch Ori in 3D on your main monitor, no VR.
If that displays in red/blue Discover mode, we are home free. PlayInVR click will then launch into VR, and will be in stereo inside VR. (no red/blue inside VR, true stereo).
If the game does not show red/blue when Play3D is clicked, then something is wrong with the launch where it cannot enter 3D mode. Worth trying to Uninstall 3D Fix, then click Play3D again and let it install fresh update, and also update 3Dmigoto. Not sure.
Please let me know what you see with those test steps.
The red/blue thing worked in the Nvidia control panel test app, but when I then changed the Settings tab of Ori to Use program for: 3D vision, and clicked Play 3D, the game just seemed normal full color... no red/blue thing was happening. I also tried to "Uninstall the fix" with no luck, and at some point it asked me something about updating the wrapper which I did.
Just to test it, I then set the pinball game to use program for 3D Vision, and that did then launch in red/blue mode. So it just seems to be Ori (Definitive Edition) I can't get to go 3D.
Anyways, if you can think of anything else to try let me know, but, it's definitely no rush. Thanks for your time. I'll tinker a little on my own this week to see if I can figure anything ut.
Try running OriDE from the hacker-mode/3D Vision, and do the Play 3D so it's 3D only, not VR. Once there, try doing alt-Enter to go windowed then full screen. This sometimes kicks 3D on.
Also worth trying is to double check that Windows has not botched the exclusive screen mode, which it now does by default. On properties for the ori.exe check Compatibility tab, and make sure the "Disable fullscreen optimizations" is checked. That check box breaks all 3D fixes, but HelixVision tries to silently automate that.
It would be worth trying to run the game without HelixVision, but still force it into 3D. If you can edit launch parameters, or make a shortcut, you can add "-window-mode exclusive" which forces a Unity game like OriDE into exclusive full screen, where 3D will engage.
Lastly, for more adventure, you can edit the game fix directly, by editing the d3dx.ini file that is found at the game root. This file is used by the 3Dmigoto program to fix the 3D effect, and has a lot of options.
Edit the file, and change the text in the Profile section comment, says "3Dfix by DHR..." And an extra space or something and save the file. When next you launch OriDE manually by double clicking the ori.exe, you'll get an admin prompt to reset the 3D profile which can sometimes be off, and we need the StereoProfile flag set.
If that still doesn't work, might be worth trying to edit the d3dx.ini file, and set the "fullscreen=1" parameter, which asks 3Dmigoto to force full screen whether the game wants it or not. This is typically unnecessary for Unity games, but like I say... Lots of complexity.
Good luck. Hope we can get this working for you, the fix is beautiful and the 3D really makes this game come alive.
I just installed the 441.87 driver and updated Windows.
Of course it works fine in 3dvision mode.
Only in helixvision I can see only one eye.
edit: I solved this issue
