If we got the last update announcing completion of episodes 9 and 10 last November, I'd expect news of episode 11 to drop around Christmas.

It's a long wait, but hopefully it's worth it.

Wait until you see season 3, you will have a greater understanding of why things take as long as they do. I've been telling people to go Patreon with a $10 or $15 per month plan, get Interlude+episode 9 and episode 10 with the guide, and then you go down to the $1 or $5 per month to stay up on all the updates for the news. At this point, by the time you have played episode 9 and 10 a bunch of times to see the content, episode 11 should be out, and then you go up to the $10 and then $15 for episode 11(and then walkthrough).

It's eye opening to get the information that the Patreon updates provide, because it provides a lot of behind the scenes stuff about the development process as well. But, it's up to you. Even the $1/month tier will give you the development news that makes waiting a LOT easier to deal with.
Previously, we were getting a percentage completion update semi-regularly, so that we at Steam would know how the episodes were progressing. I haven't seen any indication of this for episode 11 in probably 4-5 months. Has DPC released his progress for this episode?

I have been relying on the Patreon members to update me, but have heard crickets on this episode.... hope there is no problem.

The key is that it takes a while in the development before the, "how far along is it?" can even be estimated. I am standing by my 10-11 months per episode as the guide for how long it is taking per episode, so September/October is my guess on 11, but that's just based on the past releases.

It sounds like y'all are speculating the same as I am. This makes me suspect that there is not much info coming from the DPC camp. I had heard a rumor that he was "taking a break", but only a rumor.

Thanks for taking time to answer my query. As I said, hope all is well with the project, and sincerely hope DPC's health and attitude are good. It's a daunting project, and it would take its toll on anyone.

with this genre we are treated like 3rd rate customers because of Patreon and it sucks.
How much is this game on Steam? It's $5 where I am.
I've only paid $10 total for both episodes. Maybe a little more than that with the guides included.
Even the $1/month members have paid 5 times this much, so far.

We're third rate customers because we choose to be. Accept it and move on.

We do not chose to be we are because some ''people'' use patreon. If patreon was not a thing then we would not have to be 3rd rate. People that support patreon makes us. Its not the other way around...

He's still working hard and enjoying it. Don't you worry about that. As for whatever 'break' news you've heard... he rarely takes time off so any 'break' he takes isn't anything drastic. More like just a few days

You need to understand that there are rules about what we can say over here when it comes to providing information. We get information frequently, but it's not the sort of thing that we can or should tell you about. What happens on Patreon stays on Patreon, at least until the content makes its way over here.

Makes us happy. But please develop this sooner as people will grow and forget.

Don't tell me what to accept nor what to do. If you and others want to pay for info on Patreon, go for it, doesn't mean I have to like it and accept it. Information should never be behind a paywall, especially when it comes to a game we have spent money on. I can't think of any other genre where I've been told I have to pay on patreon for information, and I've been gaming a very long time. It's been 8 months since the last update on here, and zero interaction in any chat here, it's not cool and no dev should have a bunch of knights sticking up for them for not giving info here.

You haven't paid for season 3 yet, and you didn't pay $30-$50 for an early access game where you would have a point of having paid for the completed game, so deserve to know more details on what is happening with development. The benefit on Patreon is to get the episodes as they are completed without needing to wait for a full season, but we don't get to see the episodes while they are being worked on.

I haven't paid for a lot of games in the past where I got info pre purchase like updates, release dates or at least release windows. However I did buy season 1 and 2 of this and would just like an update as to when season 3 will be on Steam, and if I hear when it's done, my bp will rise. There's a few others in this genre that give monthly updates with where they are at, here- nothing. It's been a long time and I won't forget, but I fear many will because of the lack of communication. Silence is not good marketing.

It's been a long time and I won't forget, but I fear many will because of the lack of communication. Silence is not good marketing.

After seeing the last few episode development cycles, I can honestly say that while we get updates over on the Patreon side, we don't get a lot of details early on, because so much of the work is being done on the "planning and writing" side, and then yep, there is rendering work being done, and animations, and things of that sort, and then there is the lack of spoilers as well. We are at the ~7 month mark, so I expect that more information will come out on Patreon soon, but for much of it, we are in that waiting phase as well. At this point, this thread should be locked, but I've said it before that the 10-11 month per episode has been the trend.

And yes, Episodes 9 and 10 are awesome, so I can't wait to see episode 11, but, season 3 will come to Steam late 2025 or early 2026, because figuring 11 is done in late September or October, then August/September for episode 12, that gives the time for Patreon users to get it before it goes to Steam for the entire season. Steam takes extra time, not just for the approval process and store page, but also things like achievements, the guide, and things of that sort.

I've done Early Access for games, but those tend to be from larger game developer as well, so there are a bunch of people working on the code, but there are people dedicated to the customer service side of things as well who are focused on community outreach. You have the remake of Wizardry 1, Proving ground of the Mad Overlord, and yep, not a lot of news except going into a release, or after a release. Baldur's Gate 3, they had their own people dedicated to taking care of providing news and updates, that sort of thing.

Some of it also comes down to how the developer(s) tend to work. Are they still younger and more excited to release their first game, plus needing to generate interest in the project where they are doing it on the side or don't need to work a full time job to pay the bills? I remember the days when I was in my 20s, and doing side work on a project I was excited for would have me up until 3am, go to sleep, wake up at 6am to get ready for work, and that was fine for day after day, week after week, month after month. After a while, you become more disciplined about the work side, the side projects are now a part of what you do for a living, and you look for things like a work/life balance, even while working on stuff full time, 10-12 hours a day working, set things up for the night, continue it the next day. It's still fun, but it's WORK, and avoiding burn-out where you decide you are just tired of doing it all the time to the exclusion of everything else becomes important too. DPC has been doing this stuff for long enough were the PROCESS is in place, and it's all about following that process to make sure things get done.

So, like it or not, it's a waiting game. I did the, "I don't want to wait", so dropped $10 for Interlude plus episode 9, went to $15 to get the guide, and honestly, it took me six months to go through all the new playthroughs of season 1 and 2 I wanted to do where I hadn't done this or that before season 3. I did drop down to the $1/month tier, just to stay informed before jumping back up to $15 for episode 10, then back down to $5/month, because I feel it's worth it.

DPC could probably take on someone just to do the marketing and deal with communication, but it's not easy to change that process, plus, paying someone when updates to those on Steam should be once every few months, so it might not worth paying someone to do that.

Still no news on Season 3......if its 2025, it is too late - Not sure why it takes too much time in development....Atleast should have released the game with 5-6 episodes.

Since you couldn't read any of the other responses that others have gotten, here it goes AGAIN...

BaD is being made by a single person, not a team of people, not some big corporation, just one person. Now, there IS news, and has been news every time an episode is completed, which takes around 10-11 months for each one. You are responding to the official news thread from when episode 10 came out in November of 2023. September-November of 2024 is when we can expect episode 11 to come out.

Patreon gets new content with each episode release, Steam gets it when the SEASON is completed.

Now, there's a lot that goes into making a season and then each episode. First, there is a plan for the story for the overall season, and then you have each episode and how the episode not only fits into the season, but also, there is a clear beginning and end to the episode. That planning takes time, then the writing, the artwork, the mini-games, the music, the animations. For one person to do it all, and to not just do a generic harem style where how the main character interacts with each person in the game, but also to make it so your decisions actually mean something adds to the complexity. If you have a relationship with one, how will others handle that and what will it change for how they treat the main character?

This leads to branching within the game, even when the MAIN story will happen, even if the main character doesn't get with ANYONE(it can be done). That branching also means that many of the scenes can change based on player choice, or you don't see them all. So, not only might you see or not see some scenes, there are a number of variations of the same scene. For one person to handle all of that is nothing short of amazingf.
