Whereas the only tiers you can download the base game are Huge or higher.
Will D I K tier also get me the walkthrough for Eps. 9, 10, and 11?
Edit: Mind you, those are the prices without taxes. :P
Patch is for the prior version within the Season if that helps. So, someone with version 10.1 (which contains interlude, ep9 and ep10), just needs to get the incremental patch to change it to v11 (and access to ep11) when it comes out. So, the requirement for this lesser tier is that you already have a full download of S3 (at the correct level. you can't patch S3 v9.1 for example. You first need to patch v9.1 to v10.1 and then get the new patch).
So, you can stay at the lower level, but you are only going to get incremental updates.
For the next tier up, you can access the full download. So, you get that and now the patch is pointless. v11 will have interlude, ep9, ep10, ep11. You can then get the patch later for ep12 or get the full download again (depending on your tier at the time).
Now, S3 isn't standalone. You can't start a playthrough in ep1 using. You have to to import a save from the end of Season 2. Any new playthrough has to be done on your Steam (yes, there is a way to import those over). So, play Steam normally, then import into S3 and continue.
Once S3 is on Steam, you will be able to transfer from Steam S1/S2 into Steam S3 and continue that way. Achievements for the win!
Since you already have the season 2 on Steam, but want to play the season 3, I would suggest you to get the D I K tier as it will get you the full season 3 and the upcoming patches or the Major D I K tier if you want all this and access to the walkthrough PDF. My prices are in canadian dollars, so it might not tell you much, but they're respectively 15.50$ and 21.50$ for me.
BTW, the episode 11 will be released the 10 of March for those on the D I K and Major D IK tiers, so it might be wise to keep that subscription level for the next month as well to get the patch sooner.
Is it a separate PDF or will it be accessible from the game like the Seasons 1 and 2 walkthrough is?
And, hey, thanks to everyone for all the great information. You guys have cleared up a lot of confusion.
Now, there IS a difference between the Patreon versions of seasons 1 and 2 and the Steam version, and the save games are not compatible. That final save at the end of season 2 is the only way to shift over to the Patreon version. I don't have seasons 1 and 2 on Patreon myself, I made the switch with season 3.
As a final note, the guide for episode 11 may not be available when episode 11 is released on Patreon, just so no one complains that they go to the $15 tier and the guide for the new episode isn't out at release.
Many/most of us shift tiers after a new episode releases. Some will go with a $1 or $5/month tier, then will go up to the $10 for release, then bump it to the $15 tier when the guide is released before going back down.
Same here, I'm so confused. I have the ♥♥♥ Patreon and downloaded the season 3, but I don't know where to get the patreon version of the base game or if I even need it? If anyone can help me, please. I just want to play episode 9 and 10
Season 3 is a different launcher meaning it's actually a different game so to speak. If you downloaded season 3 from Patreon, place it in a different folder than your Season 1 and 2 folder and don't try to fuse them together. The game will cease to work and it might corrupt your saves if you do. You don't need the Patreon version of Season 1 and 2 if you already have Steam's version.
If you start the season 3 game, you will get to play the interlude, episode 9 and episode 10. In game, you will have an interface to load your last saves from the season 2 and these are the only ones compatible. In that page, if your games don't show up, at the top of the screen, you can change the origin of your games from Patreon to GoG and Steam and they should show up. You open the save game that you want and you will continue the MC's story. There is no further requirement.
Think of it like when you open your Mass Effect 1 save in Mass Effect 2 to continue the story of your commander Shepard and keep your choices from the previous game.
If you keep your D I K level on Patreon, on March 10, the patch to add the episode 11 will be availlable to download.
Does this answers your question or do you need further explanations?
You do not need to get the base game from patreon. You can import your end of season 2 save from Steam. So you only need to join at the $10 tier. Once you have season 3 from Patreon, you only need the $5 tier to get episode updates. If you just joined at the $10 tier and downloaded season 3, You can drop to the $5 tier now and update to get episode 11 next month.
Hope that helps.
YES, Thank you for your help! I appreciate it
