Season 3
I think many people is actually wondering when is the season coming out? Says it's been coming out, but that's like six months ago and will the same with no update.

DPC won't update until it is complete at this point. Ep11 was just released in March and now he is working on ep12. S3 is Interlude thru ep12. After ep12 is done, there is some final Steam updates and testing.

Steam is a release platform not his development platform where he makes regular updates.
The lastest episodes took about 1 year to 1 year and a few months to develop at most. So, it should be out by the summer or autumn of 2026 aproximatively. It depends on how long episode 12 is going to be. They tend to be increasingly larger in size.
Someone, I forget who, mentioned that real life concerns delayed development of both episodes 10 and 11 so we don't really know how long they would have taken normally.

Another thing to note: on completion of episode 12 most people will probably wait for the Steam release, reducing the funding DPC usually receives from his Patreon account upon completion of an episode, so it would make sense for him to want to finish the season as fast as he can to get the next large infusion.

With these in mind, my personal guess for completion of season 3 is sometime between 10/25 and 02/26.

He also upgraded some hardware, and said his renders are going faster. So there are reasons to be optimistic.

At the same time, it is the last episode of the season, and he has a lot of different paths to cover... so I dunno. I'm not going to try to guess, but anytime this year would surprise me.

So episodes 10 and 11 are already released on somewhere but not on Steam? That feels really bad. Why can't they just sell it on Steam and keep update it?

No, It's always been this way. Steam gets Seasons which are bundles of 4 episodes. S1 ep1-4, S2 ep5-8. S3 will be interlude plus ep9-12. The developer offers early access to episodes on his development platform Patreon. Process since the beginning.

So "progress" to date is that ep11 just released and he is working on the final episode of the Season 3.

notacrux your reasoning here is so dumb. Yes, he'll get tons more money from a Steam release but that was always coming so he has no reason to rush it out when his monthly Patreon subscribers will always be there to keep him funded.
You should spend more than 2 seconds thinking things through before polluting this forum with your asinine reasoning.
Now go away and get to work on your Sage solo D I K playthrough.

I caught on to the faulty reasoning a day later and kept expecting someone to give me grief over it. No one did for four days.
I couldn't let it go on any longer and decided that if no one else wanted to step up I would have to do it myself.
awwww... I'm getting tired :(

I feel like with this slow development schedule he's shooting himself in the foot. The AVN hype seems to have died down a lot and tbh the "college ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" trope has been done to death. People are getting more vocal on the various dev discords im in, saying they want more creative plots.

You can wish that it went faster as much as you like, reality is that this is still and will still be a niche video game genre for a while. To go faster, you would need a team and a large number of hardware, both of which needs a lot of financing to happen. And being niche means that the volume of sales is quite low. Another AVN was boasting recently that it sold 120,000 units like if it was a big achievement. Well, those are tiny numbers compared to what AAA games achieve and even a relatively niche, but still quite popular open world RPG like Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 sold a little over 3 millions copies to date since its release earlier this year. You can't do miracles with such low sales really.

In Dr. PinkCake case, being working alone on his game is a choice. He wants to tell the story that he wants to tell for himself. It's a deeply personal work. In his view, if people appreciate it and love it, all the better. But in the end, he does it for himself and doesn't want to dilute it by hiring other people who might push the story toward something he doesn't want. I think that he is relatively indifferent about how much it is a commercial success or not.

I think that modern gamers have lost touch with how developping games used to be before video games became so hugely popular. They used to be developped by small groups of passionate people who were primarily driven by an artistic process rather than trying to cater to specific demographics or to directly please customers. They developped the games that they wanted to play and hoped that people would love it, but it didn't define their process. I believe that Dr. PinkCake is much closer to a developper of the 1990s in that sense than a 2025 one who would be rather obsessed by commercial success and pleasing specific crowds.

Nowadays, video games are first and foremost an industry trying to make money. In the 1990s, it was still an art. And to be honest, some of the best games ever made indeed came to being while it was still an art. The reason is because even the most wonky ones had a soul. No wonder why so many people bickers about how much video games nowadays have lost their soul and are just cash cows exploited by emotionless conglomerates like EA. They're just assembly line games rather than a labor of love made by trully emotionally involved people. Well, BAD is a video game made in the old school way of thinking and I would have a hard time arguing that it hasn't be a great thing for the most part.

It's actually not slow... the amount of content he is generating is on par with the past. The issue is you look at it simplistic as the time between "a release" and do not take into accoun the size of content in the release. Ep11 alone is the size of all of Season 1. Interlude thru ep11 is almost the size of both Season 1 and Season 2. The likelihood that S3 will be the same if not more than S1+S2. S1+S2 took 3 3/4 years to make. S3 is taking just as long.

If it comes out this year it will be in mid-late december, but more likely towards the end of Q1 2026
