You'll notice that in a way the game is telling you that if you make those choices you're not really a reliable person.
Edit: also, you need a certain quantity of RPs with the D.IKs to win without mini games.
You can't have the VIP pass for the Pink Rose and avoid volunteering for the elederly home. Also, you need at least 5 RPs with the D.IKs.
My personal opinion is that the game is better with mini games. I just tried once without to see what it was like and I missed the excitement of the mini games.
Yep, Derek will always relinquish the prize to do his part for the fraternity. When you play without minigames however, if you don't refuse the prize, you won't finish repairing the mansion in time, so although you have the choice, keeping it has negative consequences.
When you play with minigames and you keep it, it just means that you have to 10 more money with work which is easy enough to do unless you have terrible luck with the work offers.
You would need about half the brothers only able to work $1 jobs the rest of the turns to fail.
Edit: I forgot that I never buy superglue, that's a waste of money, so I start turn 1 with $7. And I also forgot about the money from the in-story jobs.
I'm now thinking it's impossible to fail the mansion mini-game except deliberately or by forgetting a room, which I actually did once.
