Who is the best character.

So I see alot of discussions about this however I am fairly certain we can narrow this down to Derek or Neil (Dad).

I would like Derek to be my brother and Neil to be our dad. I want Bella for holidays, Quinn for Halloween, and Sage for weekends. That said, Ivy looks good stuck on the end of it sooooo.....

Overall yeah, you really can't discount Derek. The guy is just pure bro and not in any joking way. The few best moments of the MC and Derek's friendship happen when you least expect it, as at a glance, Derek is definitely more than meets the eye. The guy is loyal, hardworking, honest to a fault, and might be a genius (I'm still curious on the whole cheating thing). And yeah, I think our MC won't bounce back as well had not from some influence from Derek after he found out about M+J.

The best character is who the MC chooses as his official girlfriend. As in his college "wife". If the player chooses Jill this is very apparent. The MC gets a real taste of his shared future at the Bianca couples dinner date. That experience essentially both recognises and celebrate's the pair's entry into the next phase of their lives. Thus Jill is factually the best character.
I have completed a Sage and a Bella play through. And in both instances I don't get that vibe that yes this is for real. Not like with Jill.

I'm pretty sure that Derek IS a genius. What... he found a cheat supplier and set himself up as a middle man on day 1? Nah, he writes the cheats himself. And definitely a hell of a bro. I think though that we're about to find out some things about Neil. There are some who think that Neil isn't the MC's bio-dad. If we find out that he's not, but still took it on himself to raise and love the MC could be a huge boost to him in my eyes, and that situation would most definitely play a role on Sage's track.

Derek is a great team mate in the MC's journey sure. But he is only a valued passenger. In my play-throughs with Jill, Bella and Sage I did not feel that Derek actually contributed significantly to the relationships. His behaviour and his stated college goals disqualify him. Completely.
I have not completed a full Maya+Josy run. But even as Maya's brother he is useless. He did not warn Maya that he was on his way. I am sure he will beg forgiveness by explaining that he was drunk? Is the best he might come up with? But that does not hold-up. Its BS. He is not a good brother to Maya. And that is just his main faults in the way they affect the MC.

Derek has been shown over and over again that he cares deeply about Maya and Josy. The few moments he showed his true characters have always been involving Maya. Even a simple comment "don't hurt her" was a genuine Derek moment that everyone least expect. He's protective of Maya on his own way and that showed during a few interactions with the MC. The thing is, this is not Derek's story, so her protective caring brother sides are only shown here and there and definitely not at all if you're not in the M+J relationship.

Absolutely this. And for a class he really didn't care about, all his arguments and counter-arguments during Gender Studies have been actually pretty solid.

I have never seen Derek in conversation with any main girl other than Maya and Josy. And I do not recall any of the main side girls or main girls talk about Derek or even mention him as someone important to the MC.

Did we play the same game?

Maya mentioned why Derek didn't warn her, Patrick basically ambushed both of them. In the previous scene, Derek literally went to Maya right away after Patrick told him to spy on her. He was the one who was there with Maya on her first day of class. Derek was also there when Maya and Josy was once again forced to split the dorm to convince her sister to join HOT.

And I literally just mentioned why Derek was not mentioned if you're pursuing other girls, it's not his story. Derek has two sides, the caring brother side and his party side. You only see one of his side if you are in M+J relationship. I mean, why would Derek be involved with MC's other relationship if it's not with his sister? his main focus and care has always been with Maya, forever and always. He doesn't really care if MC decided to just stay friend with them and not in a relationship with Maya; in his eyes, MC couldn't hurt Maya if he's not in a relationship with her. This was discussed in their talk in the Prep party.

And what are you talking about MC being a husband and a father for? he's 19. Where did you even get that?

Ironic that you mentioned to complete at least an N playthrough as I've completed 8 of them with all D, N, and C. Derek has always been written as a strong character for the MC but his development was only more prominent on a C M+J route,as it should be. The same way Quinn's character is not developed at all if you're on a C route and in M+J relationship.

Maybe you should go back and play the game again because what you're saying is nonsense.
