not launching
i have had pacific storm allies and now it wont launch. the little black box comes up and then disappears and doesn't launch so could anyone help me

Forget it man. This one is a dead duck. I picked it up for a buck and a half and I get an "access violation in dinput8..." error. I googled it real quick and saw no clear resolution. For a small coffee I took a chance. I may try it on another box again one day but for now it's not worth my time. Can't comment on the gameplay but the reviews aren't promising and it's an antiquated game now. There's much better stuff to save the dollars for :)

You guys should come on down to the PS forum. We have tons of bug fixes and we are always willing to help people. It's a fun game, it's worth spending a few extra minuts fixing it.

This should help. I found this solution somewhere and it worked for me:
your problem was selecting the skip intro option...

1) first..don't use the config.exe 'cause it crashes every time as soon as you touch anything...
2) second...go to \Pacific Storm Allies\config folder and delete the currentcfg.XGZ file then relaunch the game and it should work ( may have to reboot meh who knows ) anyway it worked for me, every time it crashes at the splash screen delete that current config file, but I have messed with the options and the only crash causing one I can find is that stupid disable intro one...note that I never had to reinstall to get it to work, I used the same original installation...

If it still doesn't work then vista may have somehow blocked the allies exe due to it crashing or causing a fault, I have no idea what vista does or can do because I don't own it lol. Still you shouldn't have to reinstall since the problem of the crash is in the current config..once that is deleted and the game restarted the game will automatically fall back to the default settings for the game in which it will run/launch.
