However, I must ask what you meant by "learn the game in 1.52", since the steam version is 1.5.12511, and all attempts I've made to update to 1.52 have crashed and burned.

You can get free materials by trading these extra units to other countries you are no longer at war with...
I use this to give the AI a boosted number of air units as there forces are usually very naval heavy in my games... and for extra difficulty.
