Is Quicksand Level Necessary?
I'm fine with the optional platforming games I can just avoid, but if finishing this is necessary for progression it's just game-breakingly bad. If I wanted to play a platforming game I would. I don't understand why games that are supposed to be casual and relaxing feel the need to throw in poorly designed jumping puzzles. My Time at Sandrock did the same thing, and it wasn't even as bad as this Quicksand thing because then at least you can save at will and didn't have to start over completely again and again. At least add a checkpoint or two so that you aren't stuck in a loop of banging your head against a wall if you aren't good at this kind of thing.

Nope!
there should've been a message that popped up the first time you interacted with any shrine outside of the first one that warns that it's optional content and can be challenging, and asks if you're sure you want to give it a shot

just to spoil/let you know what's in there, there's a jumping puzzle that will get you a ruby, but there's also one outside the shrine somewhere in a chest, and you can also get them as rare drops from the rocks you can mine out in the desert, so nothing in there is necessary

it's just there for fun if you want something challenging and got tired of cutting down trees

Nope, it's optional content for people (like myself) who enjoy doing more active things in sim/crafting games, such as platforming, feel free to pass on it.
