worth a reinstall in 2025?
i played it on launch and it was okay, but a bit mindless and easy. Is it worth a re-install now? how interesting or deep is the gameplay?

thanks

I would say its very deep especially if you have the expansion and dlc. They have just updated the war mechanics and they are a lot better now as you can choose when to end wars now.

It hasn't changed much since launch, has the same gameplay issues.

The game has improved over the years and the updates have really polished a lot of the issues. They've updated the UI on some elements and improved on mechanics. You should definitely try it with the DLC updates as well. In my opinion unlike the poster above, the game plays much differently and better then it was at launch.

what's the recommended DLC and what's the average pricepoint when it goes on sale? recently strategy games have had basically mandatory DLC that only goes on sale for like 20% at most and it puts me off.

It will all be very cheap in the Steam Spring sale next month, I got the complete game for £10 in the last one
i havent played since release and had some fun today, its pretty interesting.

Yes it's very good baring the occasional bug / AI issue

I believe this game has as much if not more content of any game of this type, it just has so much to offer, I like it a lot.
Still buggy and AI doesnt know how to play. Probably better than civ7.
Trying it out already, still love the music, well I also bought most of the soundtracks extra also...

The most consequential DLC is the Together we rule expansion, because it adds new gameplay elements in addition to new cultures. I wouldn't say it's a must-have, but it does add an extra layer to the game.

The game has definitely improved. I just started a new game after ~3 years and since then resources and the trade system have been reworked, in addition to lots of smaller tweaks. And of course the recent update changes how Warscore works, so you are no longer forced to end wars if either side reaches 0.
what about a new patch, do I need to restart to take advantage of it?
I've read somewhere in this very forum that you should definitely start a new game with the new patch or you're going to have problems with it. As you've already seen in that other thread. So I would definitely recommend you start fresh with a new game in the new patch.

I've applied it in the middle of a game. Didnt make much difference other than the enemy suddenly seems to get more powerful. Oh and my city loyalty all tanked because of the new war weariness effects. But it wasnt very bad.
