End/win conditions?

I'm really confused on this. My first game (which looked more like it was a tutorial-ish kind of game as I don't really remember setting most of the options up when I started it) had me finish with a "win" at turn 234. The very turn I decided to slowpoke my way into the last age.

Now, I realise I was really running with the win... When the victory screen rolled over I was comfortably over 16000 fame while my closest "rival" was down to around 6500 or so. I was just goofing around since it was my first game, trying to see what was possible to do or not. I could easily have won by military a hundred to seventy five turns or so before that.

So confused by the fact that the game would just sent me on my way like this, I went and checked on the internet. A normal game should end by turn 300 with fame always being the most important factor. There don't seem to be anything linked to passing to the last age as far as I can see.

I did run away with religion in a very big way in that game but there was one single ally I got almost all game that I left alone with all the demands and I'm pretty sure they kept their religion the whole time. I also went the atheist route so I'm not even sure this is relevant for the end game.

I really have no clue about why the game just decided to declare me the winner here and there.

The win condition is always the highest Fame, but there are couple conditions for ending the game, some that you can toggle off and one that provides decision to finish the game there and then (Mars Colony). Turn limit, reaching all the Gold Stars for last era, researching all the endgame techs and finally destroying planet with pollution all will trigger the end of the game.

Yeah, I've seen those in my research. None of those apply to that game.

The most likely reason that I can see is that I was literally two ages ahead of everybody else maybe?
