This free DLC content requires the base game - so lame
Downloadable Content
This content requires the base game HUMANKIND™ on Steam in order to play.

Free DLCs are valid way to catch players with other genre preferences, but if you don't need them - that's L.

I can't activate it... so it seems that you need the base game. To bad...
What? Please? They really want money for hard work and sweat and heart and soul? Whether you like it is a matter of taste, but that you now also want to be paid for work, that is not possible at all. Ironie

You can try out the game for free right now for a couple of days to check thoroughly if you're even interested, right now it's dirt-cheap if you decide you like it and you want it and then you get the Culture Pack to go with it.

It's the dev studios anniversary, and they almost always celebrate it with giving back to *their* community by giving away DLC to this or that game.

Holy Wow! I bought 2 copies for $50 each a few weeks ago. I feel stupid. 🤣
Not baiting, there many DLC giveaways that are claimable without the base game, like for Helldivers 2 last Year.
Since HUMANKIND is currently free to play, wouldn't the temporary download of the game count to steam as you (temporarily) having HUMANKIND on file in order for you to be allowed to obtain the DLC for it? Or is that not how it works in that instance?

that argument doesn't work when it's them setting the price at zero. nobody is holding a gun to their head they did that all by themselves.

lets hope it at least works with the free weekend

as a rule of thumb it's always smart to check steamdb to see how frequent and deep sales are before buying anything on steam.

or just wishlist stuff and wait for a sale notification.
You cant be serious..
They gift us a dlc and you still crying.
Just enjoy the game (free week-end).
Than if you want more buy it and get the free dlc.
Developers need to eat too.

I was wondering the same. I had been able to add free DLCs to my lib without owning the base game (was waiting for the game to go dirt cheap). This one doesn't allow that. Typical paywall barrier with free DLC to get attention I think.

The game is free on this weekend and anyone can play it not only vanilla but vanilla + dlc Latin America to taste more the gameplay. If you like it and buy the base game, you keep the dlc with you.

I really can not understand why someone on Steam (GOG, Epic) will complain on have DLC but not the base game. ???

I just wish I got to test the DLC as well
