Does the AI Cheat even on "normal"
Playing metropolis difficulty for my first game since the release. What I noticed is that every culture that the AI created after the neo gains the first merchant star the turn after they chose their culture. This star is 550 gold worth... So no wonder I saw the AI having massive amount of units on turn 30 while not playing military culture, and having no population problem on city. They also seem to not be to bothered by influence cost of taking territory.

Is this normal?

I've played Endless Legend, Endless Space and so on and not really seen the AI cheat this much. But as the main dev on Civ once said "Our AI does not cheat on normal". Except when you check files and such you see that it does and massively so...

A.i does not get bonuses on normal, outside of their character bonuses that you can see in pre-match settings, which all Personas have when played by the A.I. Nor can the A.I magically spawn units, outside of the Pity Spawn every player(including you) gets if they are eliminated in the Neolithic Era.

So no wonder I saw the AI having massive amount of units on turn 30 while not playing military culture, and having no population problem on city.

I'm assuming you're playing on Normal speed. This can be explained by having a good neolithic start, and/or beginning in a river heavy region. A good Neolithic start can easily net you at least 10+ tribal units which can then be turned into Warriors once you switch to Ancient. An amazing Neolithic era can easily get that number of tribesman to +20. Granted: Most playthroughs I'm lucky just to have a bad Neolithic era (4 Tribal units), and not a catastrophic neolithic era. And this all comes down to how good the RNG is in spawning you in a general 3 region radius that has Mammoth spawns, and high value curiosities, which is not a given.

It also only takes ~60 industry to be able to have the capacity to pump out one warrior per turn in the Ancient era, which is doable early on in ancient era depending on city location.

This game depends 100% on getting lucky with your starting location, if they made the map design half-decent, it would be nice

AI does cheat. they use the world congress to FORCE demand you give them a city and the world congress will back the AI empire, the AI empire will then go to war with you while it LOSES 70% of its army without even taking and or damaging a city of yours, then next turn your forced into a vassel subject cause the rest of the world congress agreeed with the AI WHO ATTACKED FIRST

It seems that the World Congress is not something good for your enjoyment of the game, King Ramses. Your post mirrors the other one in the "lost war" thread. Maybe should you play without it.
As far as I am concerned, I play without Together we rule, and I am far better without it.

You will have the news just a bit after, but in the next patch (starting a beta today) we are adding an option to disable the World Congress

Thank you for your answer DaarkarrOw.

I don't like the way the World Congress works, but I am also deeply bothered by the Leverage resource and particularly by the way it is currently earned.

I am looking for the patch though, Humankind is a great game in my opinion.

I understand the frustration on that aspect.
We will post the news in less than 1 hour (more or less, just finishing a couple of elements on the blog)
