Guess I'm just used to the tech tree of like civ games. Where it make a bit more sense? Like going into muskets at the same time you take first steps of flying seems just odd.
civ, you mean the game where the united states of america is a small island where the first pyramids were built? you can research civ techs out of order too -- all it takes is going deep down one branch without going any farther in another for a long time. That is what you are doing here too. Should aircraft depend on gunpowder technology being known? Realistically, probably. But there is nothing tying them together scientifically. Did you know the first flyers in war actually threw bricks and shot pistols at each other at times?
