Administrative Center - what's the benefit of upgrading every era?
Hi Everyone

I noticed that with the latest upgrade (or maybe the version before) - we now can upgrade administrative centers every era to "match the new culture selected" - what's the benefit of doing that? Do you have to do that in order to get the legacy trait of every culture per time period? Cant find anything on it and feel annoyed that I am upgrading IN CASE it's important but don't know the tangible benefits. Thanks so much for your help! :)

You can update any Administrative Center to your current Culture with a cheap construction project.

purely cosmetic iirc. seems weird but its something the community wanted

The problem is, as ruins cleanning, we don't have an highlight point to see where we can upgrade and also if we have to or not , except scan each place (we can upgrade multiple times during the same era).
And you are right, it's not easy to feel the real advantage of this upgrade.

There is no advantage aside from changing the "old" visual admin center style to the current chosen culture. Beside finding the admin center should be easy, the territory name pin and pollution is is right above it.

I for one am happy to have my modern administration not working out of the mud brick palace of their forefathers.

yeah was really weird having modern cities still have ancient era palaces at their centre, especially some civs like Bantu which have wooden huts as part of their admin centre.

Still wish there was some dynamic city name changing so every game isnt just Harrapa, Assur, Mycenea, Kerma etc as the capitals for the entire game.

I manually change the names of my cities to fit my culture, would be handy if the AI did the same.

Hey everyone! Thanks for the help. Now i know i dont have to waste my time doing that. I am one of the "mud brick huts are fine be grateful" horrible overlord breed.

Too bad. Now that I know this I probably won't bother with it.

It should just happen automatically when you change cultures.

Since it doesn't have any effect I agree.

It seems like it would be better if each Admin center had a significant cost and you couldn't create the next level of cultural buildings without first upgrading each Admin center.

They may have removed this requirement bc it would make production cultures even more OP than they are already >_<

No, it shouldn't. It was added precisely because some people wanted to keep their centers show the past cultures and some were annoyed by it and wanted them to change. It was added purely as cosmetic thing.

I see what you mean.

I would like for it to have some sortof effect tho based on the culture you've chosen, that way leaving it as a specific culture could have some effect, rather than just a skin.

For it not to have any effect at all doesn't feel very immersive and feels like a missed opportunity to add a ton of flavor to the game.

But then you're compulsed to upgrade the admin center and people that like the old look miss out on the deal. Sure, you can make not-upgrading also bring its own benefits, but then it's no longer a matter of taste and yet another brick in the gameplay balance.

Well right now it's a useless building, I'd rather not even have completely useless buildings cluttering up my already overly filled building lists.
