Specs and more specs.....
I have just figured out how to find all my PC specs (I have said I'm not a very IT-minded person!) and I wondered if anyone could say anything about them i.e. is it ok for running Humankind? Obviously I can find the specs needed to run it, but apart from the 'i5' and 8MB RAM parts, I don't really know what it all means!
So, I am running a HP laptop with:
  • Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8250U CPU @ 1.60GHz 1.80 GHz
  • Installed RAM: 8.00 GB (7.88 GB usable)
  • System type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
  • Edition: Windows 10 Home
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 (and Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620 - but I guess that card is irrelevant?)

Is this set up any good? The problem I have, is that I need to factory reboot it. I stupidly put some dodgy software on it just after I bought it, and ever since it runs like an absolute dog. I know I deserve it, but however, it is super slow with everything - Google Chrome is sometimes almost unusable, boot up really slow, always getting the 'not responding' message in the menu bar while it chugs along etc.... And it is a pretty new machine, surely it should run most things really smooth and quick? I guess a factory reset is my only option.....such a ball ache to do that though...

(I am hoping it is ok to post this here, as it is relevant to me playing Humankind...?).

Many thanks in advance

The cpu is really really underpowered and is probably going to hamper your experience

Does it have an SSD drive? If not then that’s another bottleneck

You can try a factory reset thougy

Hi.... thanks for that. Sorry to be a pain, but what do you mean by CPU underpowered? Isn't it just an i5, that is supposed to be pretty quick?
And SSD - now i do know what that means! And unfortunately the answer is no.....definitely will be when I get a new PC though.

Laptops in general are horrible for gaming, unless it is a special built gaming laptop. With your posted specs and the fact that you mentioned even the simplest of programs like chrome are having problems loading...I would not try and run this game. Just the game install alone will take up nearly all of your available hard drive, and if it's not an ssd then you're looking at very long loading times.

I already have it! But I got it on Game Pass for £1/month for 3 months, so no waste of money there. It is running OKish, but I'm pretty sure when the game gets busy, it'll really struggle.
Cheers anyway MH.... 👍🙂
