Start new game...

Old saves might not be compatible with later versions.

I have the same issue, and it happens with new game saves as well :(

Same problem here.
Even after starting a new game (without mods) I get the same message.

Hey, to avoid that bug with your current game (JUST if your save is before the current patch , released yesterday) we created a rollback branch (meaning the previous patch). You can find it on Property > Betas > Rollback

Also, in order to investigate that problem we need the save and diagnostic files, so you can upload them to a file-sharing site, or report on G2G where you can attach files. I let you here a quick guide on where to find those files:

Saves: Please provide the last two auto-saves from when the issue occurred along with any other relevant saves.
- PC: \Users\[username]\Documents\Humankind\Save Files
- Mac: This is hidden in the Libraries folder. You will need to do an internet search to find specific steps for your OS. Once the libraries folder is revealed, they are in /library/ application support/humankind/Save Files

Diagnostic files: Located by default:
- PC:\Users\[username]\Documents\Humankind\Temporary Files
- Mac: Select the correct file by looking at the name like "Diagnostics - 2020'10'11 @1407'46''" that gives you the date and hour which should correspond to a save file

In case you didn't quote, at price of starting again a new game with rollback version or load a save previous to last game update:

For now I'm lucky and don't have the bug, it was a play started before last update.

I have the same error message, this is a NEW game created AFTER the December-2021 patch was installed

OK so it just happened to me AGAIN after starting another game on Turn 14.

My observation this time it happened immediately after upgrading from a nomadic tribe to the Babylonians (technically the save point was the turn after I chose to level as it takes one turn for your new race to take effect).

I can't be 100% sure my previous game was the (effective) turn I upgraded to another race, but I thiink it is likely, as I often use that save point as a good time to take a break from the game.

I cannot get ny of the earlier autosaves to load either, they all return the same error code.

Interestingly on Turn 9 of the current game (which is now corrupted) I DID to a Save / Load test and it worked fine and I can still successfully reload from that point. My autosaves start at Turn 10 and they are all corruputed.

Done - just posted over at G2G with save games attached
