Mod: create, share, & play against multiple personas
This mod allows you to create and share as many AI personas as you want. You can include all the personas you create as competitors to pick from in your own game, and you can name them whatever you want.

These custom personas are stored in your Documents/Humankind/Persona folder rather than an online community library, so you don't have to connect to anything to use them or those made by others.

Yes, it is possible to use our mods without using the Humankind Mod Tool.

The Humankind Mod Tool is designed to make installing BepInEx mods an easy drag-and-drop process and de-installing a matter of a button click. You can also use it to make it easier to create your own Humankind .dll mods (if you're interested, there is a tutorial for that here: https://gc2021.com/showthread.php?tid=13)

However, if you prefer to manually place mods into your BepInEx folder, you can also install them that way. Similarly, if you want to de-install them manually, you can delete them from your BepInEx folder. There are instructions for how to download and install the BepInEx system here: https://gc2021.com/showthread.php?tid=4

If you want to manually install/de-install mods, follow the instructions through step 5. Then, instead of proceeding to the next step, download the mod you want and place it in the plugins folder in the Humankind/BepInEx folder.

The mod should not be in a folder inside the BepInEx folder. You should only put the .dll in the BepInEx/Plugins folder. The Persona folder will not appear in the BepInEx folder. Instead it will show up in your Documents/Humankind folder.

Also, if you haven't tried it yet, this mod goes really well with the improved AI culture selection mod. Here: https://gc2021.com/showthread.php?tid=50

That mod allows the AIs to pick their cultures based on their persona archetypes instead of based on what resources they happen to have exploited at the moment. For example, it helps militarist AIs pick military cultures instead of always going for the Harrapans if they're available.

This is great, I requested this on "Improving Humankind Gameplay Together" thread ages ago. Hopefully this will show the devs that the community wants something this. Hopefully you or the devs can also add the ability to name personas too. I feel like the reason this avatar certain was initially included was probably for multiplayer purposes, but I think the way most people are or want to use the the personas is to make cool looking avatars to play as or against.

Are you working on an Independent peoples mod?
I had some ideas, like Independents being able to expand their city, Independents being able to merge with other independents into a Federation, and being able to vassalize an independent instead of assimilation, Would modding that even be possible or how difficult do you think that would be?
Right now our list is headed by some quality of life UI mods (e.g., getting rid of center screen popups, indicators for the value of infrastructures, etc.) and making religion more interesting. We can take a look at Independent factions at some point if someone else doesn't take an interest. They're definitely a game asset worth improving.

The mod allows you to name the personas whatever you want to name them, you can design their appearance the same way you do your own, and they can have any archetype, strength, or bias (even ones you haven't unlocked) you want. :)

Cool alas dll won't work on Mac. I hope the dev will add this functionality, at least for single player.

The mod was made on a Mac. ^^

Please note, all of our Humankind mods will work on a Mac.

ETA: The Persona mod was tested in multiplayer games, and it worked with no problems. :)

Thanks for the info, so the game Mac uses mono? I also don't see how have all the dev tool to rebuild a dll, I'll see, at next play I'll certainly try, AI is a big thing for me, if I took time select 50 or close Persona despite the hassle with the site, it's it's not minor for me.

With civ4 dll was meaning no mac except when Fireaxis did DLC including some of the biggest mods.

Unity uses Mono and Humankind is made with Unity (as I'm sure you know, but I'm adding it for others who read the thread). The BepInEx system is an open source modding framework for all Unity games (we are using it because it's really helpful, but we did not participate in the development of this system). This system loads a modder's .dll with the game (rather than overwriting game .dlls). No game files are modified in any way.

If the AI personas are of interest to you, you may also enjoy our mod that allows AI personas to have a greater influence on the culture an AI picks.

The mod also includes a small bonus to the AIs that allows them to make culture choices based on what resources they have in their territories before they've performed the research that reveals the identity of the resource. For example, the mod makes it more likely that your militarist AIs will pick militarist cultures and so on.
