Disable pollution as optional game option
Actually, you can continute a game, if you finish the last turn.
But if pollution kicks end, the game suddently ends and can't be continuted.

i am agree i hope there will be a mod to disable this ♥♥♥♥ so we can finnely have a decent end game for production building and military unit
Even if pollution is fashionable thing in this time, it is a strategy video game we are here to have fun ...

To be fair, pollution and climate change can be a fun mechanic. Civ 6's Gathering Storm expansion, for example, is the best thing that ever happened to that game. However, pollution, like many of Humankind's mechanics, is very half-assed. The devs should have gone for fewer, better mechanics, rather than a whole lot of unfinished ones.

I haven't hit the pollution limit in my games, does it give you any warning you're on your way to armageddon or does it just end the game when you tick over an arbitrary number? It sounds like the latter, and man if it is that is extremely bad design haha

It just HARD ends the game. So if you play on humankind experience with 10 players, you can expect the game ends in around turn 200-250 without the possibilty to continue the game.

Pollution really needs a rework and should be optional.

Pollution needs a rework immediately. In my last playthrough, first one with 600 rounds it ended in round 402. Pollution got to high and I was the only one who was making pollution.
I had 9 cities and would have entered the last era in the next round. All my cities were fully built, but I could not build a building to reduce pollution yet.

You get warnings, but until last era your only option seems to destroy all pollution buildings.

+1. I really enjoyed this game until I realized no matter what you do an extended play session will always end with this ♥♥♥♥

I agree that pollution seems unfinished and needs more work. It just has a counter, and once you break 100K, it's game over. It would be preferable if it had some type of meter instead, going from green, to orange, to red. Start having consequences to too much pollution, which is where natural disasters would need to be in the game. It also needs more ways to mitigate pollution beyond planting trees. I just couldn't plant enough trees to mitigate the amount of pollution having a modern society creates. Future technology, ability to have more renewable energy, would all help. Until pollution is fixed, and ways to mitigate are added, it should have the option to be disabled.

Somehow the game got 9/10 despite this.

I guess we all know that most reviewers don't even bother to play the games they review. They just rubber stamp a 9/10 and collect their pay cheques.

Here's a temporary solution folks. https://gc2021.com/showthread.php?tid=16 Enjoy.

They're looking into it. Last I heard they already like some of the ideas the community is tossing up, though some aren't technologically feasible (likely meaning that Humankind's engine wouldn't support such a mechanic).

In the meantime the mod I made will stop pollution from accumulating

Joshypoo Aug 25, 2021 @ 7:45pm

You should have had to the option to plant forests which reduce pollution. You get that option quite some time before you hit the tech that makes pollution a thing.
