I never seen that setting in the world creation. WHere is it? The only option I know like that is continent spread.
3 continents and 3 empires = 1 empire per continent.
I believe if you got it set to regular continents you will get 2 empires per continent if you set it to 6 empires and 3 continents.
I could be thinking of Age of Wonders: Planetfall. I know one of the 4X's I played recently had it, but I can't remember which for sure.
Both were huge maps on endless with 5 AI players. So it appears to be random as it should be
Just thought I would share my two starts.
I did not noticed the same problem. I started two games for the moment : in both one civilzation was close, two were far.
I get that man, I do. I know not all our experiences are the same, but I swear to god that 70% of my games I got 3 A.I hugging my borders.
Seems like he is the only one on my continent... other than the ravening hoards of independents that settle every empty region as soon as I start dropping outposts... then the AI begins trying to take them over before they even have a city.
I would love to be able to get rid of the indep cities, but I haven't figured out how. I can assimilate them, or attack them, both ways they end up pushing me over city cap with bad cities I don't want. But I want my neighbor to have them less. :(
I like to have a large amount of space for both me and the A.I to develop. It's not fun if only one of us gets strong.
