How do I destroy/delete Cities and Outposts?

I'm playing my first play through, and the neutral cities keep popping up. When I defeat them I'm forced to take them over. Which obvious leads me to hitting my city cap.

Is there a way to destroy a neutral or AI city? I do not want to take over all their territories. Help??

Get a unit on the city hall -> Click Ransack button -> wait one turn and the city/outpost will disappear.

Note; You have to own the city.

adding to the note Arcane said, you can ransack any outpost, enemy administrative centers while at war, and captured city plazas as well, although that takes more turns to do so

Thanks guys, that worked.

Sadly though, went to war and start ransacking his towns/cities/outposts. Then forced surrender, then he declared war on me instantly, I occupied his last 2 cities, but due to it being such a short war, couldn't force his cities due to no war support :(

Is there a trick to this to wipe out the civ?
