Why is there no option to turn off pollution?
I just beat the tutorial game, and I wanted to start a new one. But, every game mode option when starting a new game says "world unfit for human life" as a condition. So there is seriously no way to disable that or am I missing it? The charm of 4x games for me is allowing us to customize a game how we see fit. It's like a big sandbox in a way. Please add an option to disable this as a condition, as I don't find it fun ending a world early because I built a few of the buildings you allowed us to build.

I just played a game where I tried to pump out as much pollution as I could, and I failed to get past pollution level 0 before the game ended. Besides, I think the game would be boring without human life.

I don't know how you feel about adding mods to your game, but there's a mod to disable pollution and a tool to install/de-install the mod here: https://gc2021.com/index.php

The way that people are reporting how pollution affects their game is a bit confusing. Some people find that it severely impacts their ability to play, while others barely notice this feature is in the game at all.

If you only play for the turn limit or victory it won't affect you at all. If you want to keep playing afterwards because you're having fun with your current game it will inevitably hard-end your game sooner or later. That's why those people are understandably pissed at the mechanic.

I think it has a lot to do with difficulty and gamespeed. The AI on lower difficulties barely makes it to the point where it can generate pollution, especially on normal game speed. On higher difficulties the AI can progress a lot more, and on endless speed it can spend hundreds of turns pumping out pollution.

Thanks.

What is causing this? I keep ending up with minimal pollution, it even gives me a 'we like you' with the AI sides for being so low. I never built a lot of trains or airports, but I did some of them... is it having a ton of those?
