Report a translation problem
The way that people are reporting how pollution affects their game is a bit confusing. Some people find that it severely impacts their ability to play, while others barely notice this feature is in the game at all.
I think it has a lot to do with difficulty and gamespeed. The AI on lower difficulties barely makes it to the point where it can generate pollution, especially on normal game speed. On higher difficulties the AI can progress a lot more, and on endless speed it can spend hundreds of turns pumping out pollution.
