Notre Dame ?
So I have to buy the deluxe version to get access to an in-game wonder? If I don't have this wonder and someone else does, they get an unfair advantage? How is this a good business model? It actually just put me off buying this for now. If you're selling wonders and giving others an advantage based on that, I don't think I'll buy this at all. Need clarification please.

These predatory practices have been going on for years sadly and Humankind isn't the first game to portion off and sell existing content for an extra price.

I'm not a preorder scientist, but notra dame seems to be in the deluxe pack, it isn't a preorder bonus.

Yes hence why I said deluxe version...and nothing about preordering...

The point stands, this game is dead on arrival if this is their business model. Like WTF can you imagine competing in a game of civ where 1 guy has access to stonehenge and nobody else does? Or an aggressive civ has access to statue of zeus and nobody else does? Stupid...

If you've played any of their previous games, the host controls what dlc is in the game. So if someone with the deluxe edition hosts, everyone playing has access to the deluxe edition content (or at least the stuff that actually effects gameplay), and if someone without hosts, no one has access to it, even if they own it. Same thing for any expansions this game will probably get.

Good to know but still not going to be enough for me unfortunately. I'm not interested in paying full price for a game that is missing content on day 1. GG devs, see you when you change your minds about how you're going to release your content

I'm retarded then, my bad.

I didn't play the devs' previous games, but taking it at face value I'm inclined to agree here. Cutting ♥♥♥♥ out of the base game to sell for extra dosh a la carte is the kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I would expect from EA. I thought this was Humankind, not The Sims.

For real. I would guess the average age of the gamers interested in this is going to be 35-45.. I played Civilization 1 for the first time when I was 8 years old.. We are old and cranky and we won't fall for the tricks that work on the mobile genurrrration.

To be fair, this kind of stuff became pretty commonplace before mobile gaming took off, and even that was a while ago. At least it's not as egregious as some of the stuff in the 360 era, or the brief trend of making everything a grindy rpg and selling xp boosters. It's not something I can defend, but it is something I decided wasn't worth caring about about a decade ago. Not going to say you're wrong for not feeling the same way though.

Well the DDE is listed as containing the following:
The Game
The Notre Dome pack
Sound Track
Tech Tree & Unit PDF

Which makes my think that the Notre Dome pack can be brought outside the DDE bundle.

As any Amplitude fan can tell you, we have the following policy for DLC in multiplayer:
If you play a multiplayer game, the available in-game content is entirely determined by the host. If they own the DLC and enable it, and you join the game but do not own the DLC, you still get to play with the DLC. There will thus not be any unfair advantage in multiplayer games. (Cosmetic items such as player emblems and avatar options are an exception to this.)

Awesome Thank You for taking the time to respond. I have high hopes for this game even if I don't like the idea of parting it out... Best of luck to you guys I really hope this game smashes it out of the park!!!

I can only hope the extra money they're charging is going toward building actual Notre Dame. I bought the game, because I played during beta, and the demo. They improved it a lot from feedbacks. Anyways, I won't buy their dlcs if they have such behavior going forward.

Such incomrehensible from the moral standpoint practices make sure that at least I will not be supporting whoever is employing them. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
