Send a Mission to Mars?
Please help me figure out how to "Send a Mission to Mars", which is supposed to be one of the possible ways to win Humankind. I was not able to figure out how to do this in my last game, so ended up winning a different way, by completing the tech tree. What did I overlook?

You are confusing end conditions and win conditions. Currently the game has only one end condition, win in fame board, and eventually as it's top three, you can consider there's three end conditions to be in win summary, be first, second or third. :-)

But that's it, anything else is, for now, only end conditions, they force the final summary before end of turn limit.

the space race is a three part project. you basically build a space center in one of your territories and then launch a man to space, then land on the moon and finally send the expedition to mars.

I think I understand what you said about the difference between game end conditions and winning the game. After completing the tech tree in my last game, I also had earned more Fame than the other players, so I won the game.
Then is "sending a Mission to Mars" simply another way to end the game? If so, how do you do this?

Azunal, just saw your comment about how to send an expedition to Mars. Thank you very much.

Ina recent play, not last but finished recently, I honestly didn't saw the option, I wonder if there isn't a bug here.

You need have done at least two research, and past that you have series of build unlocked successively, but the game allows build them on top of each other without saying anything, except I suspect it creates a bug, and you don't get the final build to Mars only up to moon.

What's sure, is I did it already but in a more recent play I failed find it and I discovered the "good" trick to build them on top of each other.

EDIT:
Or the bug was triggered by researching very very late the missile topic, and start the process without do it, yeah later research starting the process can be researched without the missile tech.

I don't get the option to build the Mars expedition after building Lunar lander.

In my current game completing Mars colony project didn't end the game at all (End conditions set to Space Race). So it may be bugged in more than one way.

Same. I did the mars mission, then got some text pop up that didn't seem to have anything to do with sending a mission to mars. Waited a few turns to see if anything would happen...nope.

i didnt do it for a while so i am not sure how it is now but yes it was a 3 part building stuff and then you got a popup to end the game this turn or let go, if i remember right

guess you would end it if you sure you won by fame at that point or if you behind then not

Im over 30k higher in fame than the next player so it's not an issue about winning. I set my end conditions to space race, 450 turn limit, and of course pollution. I'm 169 turns into the game and ready to end it. Already completed everything, including researching every single tech.

i never tried space race only so i dont know

i checked the wiki and indeed there is a "red planet" event what i was referring to (default win cond)

however in space race it should just be over, so i guess its probably a bug
and if it is so then other end condition is to reach the last turn which i guess sux :)
or to hope another ai does this and its actually ends the game no idea

or to pollute the world

though i was wondering why would you take this win condition
and now i guess i get it, it is that you can eliminate all take all and the game doesnt end then you can get all the stars in a run? then gl with those end turn buttons :D, i actually wonder though it should be insta at that stage right?

I have beaten down every AI (playing with 8 on humankind difficulty) down to just 1 territory, researched every single tech, gotten every single era star, was going to use the mars mission to end the game because I'm no where close to polluting the planet, and at turn 169 out of a 450 turns. So when the mars mission didn't work like it was supposed to the only thing I can do now is just resign the game.

i would actually be impressed by those numbers if i wouldnt be aware of a few mechanics that easily exploitable at the moment :)
My main problem with the space projects is simply that they take so many tiles to plop down. Not sure if it's the final Mars project, but whatever one has like a 4-hex radius is a nightmare to place because there's always some stupid luxury or strategic resource district in the middle of most open areas.
