I wanted a challenge, but Extreme Settings, i just dunno..
Best i can tell Extreme Settings in free mode is just not possible, the couple things i tried, earnings wouldn't cover wages, let alone any other expenses.

Guess i will try hard settings instead, lol

If anyone has had any luck on extreme settings (actual luck, not just theorizing please), would love your feedback.

Is 15% the max happiness from decorations? Dont have any money for experimenting right now, wondering if i will survive the 1st winter as it is, haha

I have tried it and you have to go training cheaper worker. You have 0€ maintainance. then you can start building and doing the Bio-chicken thing with the left 84k. (fish is not recomended as you need an extra storage for storing the fish)

what also works take the 1Mil credit and go for frozzen fish. you make 30k a month

I just did a first time all-extreme playthrough with cow sheds and as long as you have 4 cows in each shed you make a profit. It's not a lot, though. Maybe 1-2k per shed per month. You can just about break even with 3 cows if you want to breed some, which might be a cheaper way to expand, but I did it only after I had a solid foundation and even then not with every cow shed. Buy the food for the cows, do not try to produce them on your own. I bought grass, silage, oats and crops to max out the efficiency. I'm at the point where I have 96 cows in 24 cow sheds, and am finally going into growing grass and oats. I also have 3 milk processing plants now because I'm making some serious dough. Do not produce silage, it's cost-prohibitive, which is sad. Crops I think will be okay, because I won't have to hire anyone else to do it. Oats I had to hire a second guy. I'm not convinced that I have enough consumption to merit going into these things but I'm so bored of building another cow shed.

I'm curious if it'll work with chickens now, or what other animals/crops I could start off with.

I was going well in Extreme settings, with the exception of starting money where I chose Hard (500k). 2 cow sheds, dairy factory making cheese. Small profit, but was on the way to getting 2nd factory. first factory broke down (mechanical failure or whatever it's called). Cost 36k to fix which i didn't have. selling milk alone results in loss. Long story short: new game needed. -> already had a small-ish loan. Next time: don't take loan!

Well I have reached 2030 now, I have 4 fish farms and 3 freezer factories - and 1.7 million in the bank. Now when I start the cows I can immediately make cheese so hopefully the dairy will be self-sustaining from the start. It will be interesting to see how crops fare at some point.

How were you losing money on milk? Do you have all your people 5* animal people and feed them 4 foods?

The topic is about Extreme Difficulty settings, which means you are scraping for every penny to get started, all costs are substantially higher, productivity and profits are substantially lower etc. Doing a extreme game with one or more of the settings not at extreme basically nullifies what the topic is about.

As I said earlier, all my setting were at Extreme, including the 100k start. Still not sure how you're not making money on milk. Just make sure you only have 5* employees, 4 cows per shed, and feed them 4 foods so they're at 100% productivity and you will make money. If you are trying to get by with less than that you might not. The salary is the only real cost here, food is ridiculously cheap still so buy it. If you're only buying one food, then your cow will not be productive enough to pay for the employee. You also cannot afford to grow your own at the beginning. Just buy food on the market. The entire thing is that you need the most productivity you can get per employee because your main cost is employee wages. So you need the cow to be 100% productive so that you have 400% milk production per employee (4 cows * 100%). That should get you in the positive and then you just have to roll from there, expanding whenever you get the money.

If you have a 1* employee your cows won't make nearly enough milk and you pay almost the same wages. Make sure whenever you hire you hire the lowest wage employee and have enough to train them to 5*.

It's doable, you just have to pull out your AAAA game, short people's income, wait to hire people with the correct double skills... hire mostly women because they're paid less... Quail reproduce faster than chicken btw

Naw, I never had to pay anyone less than 100% either, though that might have helped... but happy workers are more productive too, I haven't looked into that effect yet.
