Drawing Tablet Lag Issues

I'm trying to play Chicory using my drawing tablet and I'm having input lag issues. These issues don't occur in any other application with my tablet. When I touch my pen down, the cursor will hold still for half a second before jumping to where I have moved it, leaving a small gap between where I started drawing and when the ink starts showing up on the screen. After that the drawing lines up fine but if I ever lift up my pen and put it back down I get the delay again.

It is also unresponsive to tapping to click, if I tap the pen to click on something it doesn't register at all. A quick double-tap registers as a single click.

Computer Specs: Windows 10 Home ver. 22H2 (up-to-date), 64-bit OS and 12gb RAM (I can find other info if it would be helpful)
Tablet: Wacom Intuos M, model CTL-6100WLA (drivers up-to-date), I have been using it plugged in not blutooth

I know it's possibly my hardware is simply incompatible with Chicory but I know others have played this with a tablet so I'm hoping someone else has some insight into whether this is the case or what I can do about it!
