Owl's Sanguine Ichor trade

I'm confused about the Owl's Sanguine Ichor trade. Is the owl paying 2 Hunt Points for 1 Sanguine Ichor? Or is selling 1 Sanguine Ichor for 2 Hunt Points? Or something else? I've yet to actually find a Sanguine Ichor, and I'm in the endgame, or close to it I believe.

its a NG+ currency for taking traits past 5 i believe. no idea how Owl exchange works exactly but i think its 2 hunt for 1 new

It is one sanguine for two crimson. I was just using him as a fast way to get more hunt points to level the rest of my traits

So the Sanguine's are found normally in NG+ then, but are missing from regular NG? I've now beaten NG, and though there are a couple areas I couldn't figure out how to get into, I doubt a Sanguine Ichor is in one of those.

Yep, every main boss now drops sanguine ichor. All of the breath upgrade ones give you breath hearts for weapon upgrades.

Neat! Maybe I'll check it out, but I think I need a breather from this game. Though I might post some questions separately first about how to into those areas that I just can't find a way into. Would be nice to get all the weapons and outfits too in NG. I hope NG+ doesn't clutter up the inventory with duplicates?

They do not replicate. Any repeated armour or weapons gets turned into upgrade material instead.
