Builds
I've put five levels into health and force and the rest into resonance. Is this idiocy going to bite me in the as a few hours down the line?

Yes.
Well, at least you can stack burst lamp/lantern with confidence.
Remember to get the burst lantern, which is something you can get pretty early!
Check the weapon guide if you need help.

... you know what, ♥♥♥♥ it. I found traits that scale with Resonance and I've decided to commit to the lantern. I'll put like five more levels into Health and Force to bolster up and then pour the rest into Resonance. I'll use Bellow Mace as my backup weapon for standard encounters.

I actually beat my first playthrough with a resonance build (burst lantern for bosses, discarded device for normal enemies) and I had a ton of fun since the lantern basically requires you to really learn each fight to know when you can get another stack in before they all vanish. I also barely put any points into health to force myself into using the resonance abilities and I have no regrets about it but naturally to each his own

Honestly when i compare the time it took to kill some bosses with reso builds in comparison to what str and dex can do, i'd say yes. But it's still fun and functional. If anything it feels pretty balanced when compared to the other two stats.
As stated, burst lantern + discarded device (need 5 points in str) is viable and interesting to play. I tried a bit wisp lantern + the wisp related endgame sword but overall it just feels like a much worse combo. Reso also results in decent dodge/parry damage if invested in. It's fun, just doesn't feel optimal when you see what dex and str builds can pull off.

Can't wait to hear how this goes for you (very interested myself). The meta right now is DEX with a splash of STR and maybe a hint of RES for improved lantern use in a pinch. The average speed DEX weapons are fantastic right now - personally I used the Yr Glaive in the early game and switched to the Needle (found very soon after blacksmith) which just destroys - over 70 pts of dmg after a couple of easy upgrades, and with 9 force points and one trait (10% force) I can get in three attacks AND a couple of dodges. Very strong.

I put Hp and Force to 10, then Res to 20 and then Dex to 20.
Never had an issue with the boss or anythig. Lantern will eat most of them alive, and weapon which scales with both will do levels.
You find one at the very start of the game.

Nore than that, Res is the best stat, because it scale everything - dodge, block, absorb etc.
You can do themendous amount of damage by pure defence.

Screw the burst lantern. The attuning lantern is where its at. Load up the bosses with stacks, and one or two blocks and they're done.

I put 70 stacks on Fidus, and with 1 Q, it skipped his entire 2nd phase lol.

Wow I have not used the attune but correct me if I am wrong but the lamp has no hard limit on stack number right?

Small update on this:
I found Misbegotten Amalgam. I've seen a bit of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about it, but I have no complaints. It's a fun, short fight with the Burst Lantern. After a bit of dodging and pulling, I have 30 stacks on it, and with a single Awakening Gasp, I can bring it down to low enough health that I can kill it with a single swing from the Bellow Mace.

Here's the recording.

reso build is actually the best and fastest to kill boss and big enemy
you can spam super fast and super easily burst lantern stack to 30 and 1 shot boss not having to deal with multiple phase most of the time ( there is exception to that tho )

there is also weapon that dont have any requirement and scale with resonance that can be use ( finger blade for example ) and since its only to deal with normal mob ( which most can be absorb/repel and with trait that kill them ) having a normal weapon is not even needed

you should see what resonance can pull off

best reso weapon combo is attument lantern + burst lantern

good weapon that scale on reso but need either dex or str :
- jaw axe ( str/reso ) slow but hit like a truck and that special attack can do insane damage
- centiped whip ( dex/reso ) no knockback on normal attack ( but some on strong attack ) range ! ( similar to lantern ) fast attack that deal Ok damage and the strong attack is an aoe around you that can hit multiple enemy ( but you pick it for the range mostly , making it a super safe weapon to use )

its fun to do but the time you put 70 stack the boss would be long gone with 30 stack of burst , but yeah its really fun to kill the boss with parry/absorb
