I much prefer the rawblade for its infinite light attack combo, which can be spammed between reflects on some enemies/ bosses to string together constant damage, or you can completely switch up the playstyle for more aggressive enemies by spacing outside their attack range and using the charged heavy attack to hit and run.
Just try both and play whichever suits your playstyle more. I didn't upgrade any weapons until the carven palace without too much difficulty, and had plenty of time to try out different weapons.
Nerveroot.
ughhhh i hate it there
