Make sous-chefs prep before service?

Kashim complains about having nothing to do all afternoon. I'd like him to help me with prep, but the option only seems to show up after service starts.

He'd be way more helpful if I could have him help me prep in the afternoon. Am I missing something?

You can have the sous chef prepare food in the afternoon. First of all you have to speak to him and select "help prepare food" ( the other options being prepare extra and clean the kitchen). He will be standing in front of the sous chef counter. Then you can go to the right side of the counter ( the side opposite to the one in which sous chefs put prepared food during service). You can interact with the table (pressing E on pc) and from there you can give order to the sous chefs. Remember that you will have to store their preparations on the warmer or in the fridge or they will disappear.

I see, ty! I hadn't noticed the little prep station, and during service you can hit "V" to have them help prep. This'll make the game a heck of a lot less tedious now, ty!

I use steam deck to play this, but not sure how to let the sous chef help in the afternoon even I put them in that duty.
