Prepped food disappears from warmer....
As per the recipe, I prepared green beans before the shift and placed them on the warmer. It literally says it can be saved this way. But when the restaurant opens, all the warmed food left on the warmer disappears, making prep time and ingredients go to waste.

Is this a bug or a waste of time?

Which brings me to the question: what is the lower part of the warmer for?

it's for keeping food warm that needs to stay warm while you are finishing up prepping other foods, like if you make meatballs in tomato sauce you can grab all 3 of the dishes and put them in the lower warmer and it'll keep them up to temp until the rest of them are ordered, this can only be done after service has started though, otherwise they will disappear.

It can also be used to warm up dishes that are getting cold that needs to be served hot.

i found this very confusing too. i spent the morning prepping ingredients for the day; cut fries ready to fry, cut shallots ready to cook, some meat laid out ready to fry; and when the service actually started, it all disappeared. what was the point of me prepping? anyway lesson learned. also all the tools i had laid out for use and everything equipped i had in my inventory also vanished. the prep work in the morning is like bare essentials apparently

Depending on the recipe, some dishes can only be barely prepped whereas others (e.g. Beef carpaccio, Caprese) can be prepped until plating stage.

yea i could mostly prep the Caprese salad no issues, i still think you should be able to have ingredients lying around and tools placed, etc. especially since i'm doing that moments before the kitchen opens. its jarring when it all just disappears.

I think it would become too easy if too much was preparable so i'm fine with how it is, but there are certain recipes where it can be a bit aggravating when it requires a ton of work still because you can only prep so far on it.
