Onbu relationship meter
Is there a way to know how much he likes or dislikes me, like a relationship meter or something?

Hi Octarin

No, at least not at the moment. We were discussing this internally very heavily, also with the feedback of our beta testers.

Our game designers want to get to the point where you "feel" how onbu feels, and not just manipulate a "visual bar", if you know what I mean :)

But I think, I'm sorry if I misremember, that our game designers want to add a new building which helps you get more info about how Onbu feels. I'm not sure in which way this will happen, like if it's really like a thermometer or something more vague, but there are some ideas there. Also maybe we let flowers bloom on the side of onbu, if you're nice to onbu :)

So at the moment, there is nothing, but it's possible we might add more in this direction. Nothing promised though ;)

Cheers,
Markus

This would be amazing if expanded. It could add a whole new side goal of the game to "improve" the Onbu. Also a good way to add collectibles, imagine the scouts found unique decorative items that you can hang off the side of the Onbu.

Aby tips how we can understand his "feelings" in another way ? At least something like a message "Onbu starts to feel more sad" would be enough, then we would try to find out ourselves why...

Subtle hints would be even better, I agree. Thanks for replying!

Yes, subtle hints is the way we want to go. Currently we only have 3 states:

Normal, High trust (Onbu swings head back and forth happily) and low trust (onbu hangs head in sadness). There are also some text notifications, but I agree, that we need to do more work there.

if you have ideas, please keep 'em coming :)

Thanks and cheers,
Markus

Is there some kind of shaman or elder (= "hidden statistics")?
(so there's no "thermometer" kind of scale but more "feeling how things are")
--> The shaman or elder could be more or less 'vague'.

Edit: I'm gonna watch some streams and take a closer look at the game before deciding wether to buy it or not.

wonder if it'd be a good idea to have the relationship give more side effects.

I.E. good relationship = flowers on the side of the Onbu that slows the spread of poison but makes the small rocks and trees regrow slower on the Onbu's back
bad relationship = spikes on the side of the Onbu that speeds the spread of poison, but makes rocks and trees regrow faster on the Onbu's back

or do this, when onbu feel bad, trees looks bad, when he is happy, trees are nice :)

I too would prefer NOT to have a thermomoodmeter. The subtle expressions and grunts are fun to decypher.

Yeah i prefer subtle hint too based on the behavior of onbu . And that onbu mood affect tree and stone respawn rate suggestion is great since we do have a choice of living as parasite .

Today I saw, how he looks when he is happy :) so for me it is enough . When he swing his head and tail, he is happy. If he just walks as from the start , he is neutral. Plus I often have a message that he swings his tail.

For me, the unexpected reward of Onbu wagging their tail and the other subtle hints was an amazing way to discover that I built enough trust. I don't think a meter is the way to go, but I agree that a building for a worker to "study" Onbu and provide more explicit guidance (i.e. more text notifications regarding trust level) on where Onbu's trust is

I fully agree that a trust bar is not the way to go. I think that it should be more obvious in the game that you don't have a solid way of seeing the trust, and then it can mention whatever you (possibly) add that will give you an indication of Onbu's trust. I am basing this off the fact that many (including myself) seem like they are missing where trust is shown :)

Near day 100 or so and have found that Onbu's trust is in his body language. The visual cue's are there. Poisoned and hurt he drags his feet, walks with head down and refuses horn commands - coloration to me turn dull as well. I maxed storage on bile so turn the extractor off, Starting petting and healing and curing poison. Never harvested any spikes, next thing I know his color look a more vibrant green - he obeys horn and then starts wagging his tail. I knew he was a happy Onbu then. Tail wag is big give away that i have maxed his trust.
