Distributing Food

Am I the only one having trouble distributing cooked foods? Every time I switch off the consumption of basic food all my villagers starve. I tried putting food stands around my onbu to help with distribution, but it feels very ineffective. I feel like i have fairly good coverage. It can always be better, but things are cramped as it is. I tried moving storage around to help with logistics and still haven't seen much improvement. Any tips or shared frustration?

I tried using fiid stands when they were introduced but didn't find them effective either, I haven't used them since.
Instead I just spread my fields and kitchen to cover the required areas.

It kinda depends on where your workers are, e.g. if you have your factories centrally located, (Stonecutter / Lumberyard, Kitchens - buildings that don't require land) and your farms are further off, I'd put your Food storage in the center?

More often that not, your Farms are centrally located? Your 'factories' are off to the side. In that case I'll put the Food centers along the periphery of Onbu.

I normally pair a Kitchen with a food storage building (pantry or Granary). For around 5~6 of these 'pairs', I'll also put down a Food Stand next to them (Iron Rationing). So if the Stand runs out of food, there is the Pantry/Granary and regardless... the Kitchen is nearby ^_^

Food Stands do three things for you;

• they assign a dedicated worker who will get and distribute cooked foods
  
• they 'force' nearby workers to come to the stand, rather than walk to somewhere farther
  
• with the right upgrade, they reduces food consumption
