Report a translation problem
I'm very sorry this happened. Can you give me some more information?
- On what operating system are you playing?
- Can you launch the game and enter the main menu, and it only doesn't work when making a new game or loading an old game? Or does it crash when booting into the game from Steam?
- Does it crash, or stay black?
After launching the game (and maybe crash or freeze), can you send us your log file at support@strayfawnstudio.com ?
The location of the file is described in the linked post:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/1121640/discussions/1/3374907062184296381/
Thanks a lot for the report, this is very appreciated. I hope we can fix this asap.
Thanks for your help and cheers,
Markus
Thanks for your respons, im playing on an windows 10,
The game fails to launch and a pop up with what seems like a red symbol appears for a split second before dissapearing, then nothing happens, no main menue or anything.
Hope this can help
Thank you for the info. Please send us the crash log. This should give us more info to find out what went wrong :)
- In the Windows Explorer, go to view and tick the box to show hidden files
- Navigate to C:\Users\Username\AppData\LocalLow\Stray Fawn Studio\The Wandering Village
- Inside this folder is the "Player.log" which is the logfile
please send the content of this file to support@strayfawnstudio.com, or dump the whole content here in a post (if it's possible).
Thanks for your patience and cheers,
Markus
I got answer from my co-worker, that you should try to verify the game files. here's a link to how to do it:
https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/0C48-FCBD-DA71-93EB
That should fix the problem.
Please let me know if you got the game running again.
Thank you and cheers,
Markus
Verifying the files was one of the first thing i did, I did that again now after restaring my computor and it did not help. Same as befor with a split sec of red symbol. Im going to try now and get a crash log to send to you. Thanks for keeping up and helping.
Cheers

Thanks for sending us the crash log. If we get this correctly, your windows antivirus is attacking the game file, and corrupts it. We're not yet sure how to fix this, as this seems to be a random case and we didn't get another report here so far. We'll keep our eyes open for possible solutions.
Until then:
You already said you tried to re-install the game, which did not work. Can you also try to go back to the public non-testing branch and check if you can run it normally? I wonder if it's only specifically this update or if something in general went wrong.
Thanks for your help and patience,
Markus
Which version are you playing, the new testing-branch or the current public build (version number ...)
After the game crashes, can you also locate the crash log (player.log I think) from the folder written above and send it to me at support@strayfawnstudio.com ?
If you're playing on the testing branch, can you go back to the public branch and see if the game runs correctly there?
Thanks a lot for your reports and help.
Cheers,
Markus
Sorry i dont understand exacly what you mean with public non-testing branch.
But i try change beta version at properties, i have alternativ (Non) and (testing-eraly testing for upcoming patches) noting changed after testing the other.
Is that what you mean with public non-testing branch?
I also found what betaversion-ID i have reight now if that help and its: 10601928
Is it anything more i can try?
Best regards Jade
I see, so if other games are influenced as well, then the antivirus might be a bit out of control :/
I'm not an expert there, so I'm not sure how much I can help. Is it possible to whitelist certain games (.exe files) or maybe whole folders? If it's the same for other steam games, maybe the whole steam folder should be whitelisted.
Or maybe you can try to disable the windows antivirus, reinstall the affected games, try running them and if it works, activate the antivirus again and see if that made a change.
I hope some of those ideas help :/
About the beta: Sorry for my bad wording. If I understand correctly, then you opted into the beta-branch for beta playtesting. I meant that you should opt-out of any beta branch, which will let you play the default public version.
If you find a solution for the problem, I would love to hear back, since it may also help other players.
Thanks and good luck,
Markus
Best regards
