Water tanks are useless
**Edit: Just to clarify, all if not most of my air wells are full and they are still not moving the water to the tanks.

I can have 3 full worker buildings of carriers and they never move the water from the air wells. I hope the devs adjust the priority of the water tanks/full air wells so that the they can work more efficiently.

If the air wells are not full, there is no reason to bring the water to water tanks. Maybe that's it.
I usually go with 2 air wells per farms and a few water tanks spread out.

Do you have anyone free, or is everyone marked as a carrier? I have a dedicated air well villager who moves water to the water tanks. I've never had any issues.

They only take water to water tanks if all farms, mycologists, etc, that require water are full

how do you mark a single person as a water carrier?

It just sort of auto appointed him. I noticed a dude standing there one day and when I clicked on him it said he worked at the airwell. At the time, everything was full, so he had nothing to do.
I'm pretty sure this is just a priority thing. I think literally every other task (carrying food, fertilizer, materials, etc.) has a higher priority than water when the task is from collector to storage. The issue works itself out as you get more villagers (I currently have 19 water tanks, all of them are full to the brim). If you have a lot of carriers and none of them are idle, chances are they are prioritizing moving food from farms to kitchens and from kitchens to storage, rather than water.

this is exactly my point, if most or all the air wells are full it should be a higher priority imo

Why though? I'd usually want the villagers to do those tasks first. Food that's carried to Kitchens then cooked increase in quantity and quality increasing overall productivity. A full Air Well to me is a full Air Well (there's an upgrade to boost capacity as well) and that's a plus in my book.

Are you trying to build up a Water reserve before crossing a Desert? Then pause / disable all other tasks and they should become water boys. Once the tanks are full, you can unpause / enable those other tasks...
