Worker Summary
I have trouble figuring out how many people I have assigned to what tasks (without looking at each building individually, which is tedious), am I missing something or is there no detailed worker summary in the game at present?

I haven't found anything myself either, but I'm sure it comes with being partially blind!
So the Population Details tab might be somewhat of a solution but it still doesn't give a breakdown of everything.

Yeah, I found that one, but it only tells you about your general workers/worker posts and how many idle employed/unemployed, not number actively working each job. Thanks for the replies.

agree, i need to see how many villagers are actual carriers, build, harvest. i have 90 people and on town i see maybe 10, no idea where are others :D

This is my only gripe so far aslo, though after playing im just use to going into the buildings and setting my stuff up that way.

I just realized my wording was super unclear, the game actually makes types of "workers" IE, general laborers who aren't employed vs those at worker posts very clear, it's how many farmers vs berry harvesters vs herbalists etc. that I'm interested in a count of

OH. gotcha yeah that would be nice to see. Off topic but does it feel like you don't yield as much food as you think you would given how many workers you have assigned to the field? i always seem to be in a food deficit

how much food you're producing varies wildly not only by number of people assigned, but also by biome you're currently in, plots available/berries nearby, number of people in kitchens stretching it further (for beets/berries anyway). In desert biomes I'm always short of everything, but in mountains I do generally ok and the jungle is easy to grow in as long as you can manage the extra poison (so far, that's been my experience anyway)

I had to switch to corn to survive in a desert and you can turn corn into polenta in a kitchen. There probably is a cooked version of all crops you can get in a farm, except maybe wheat which most likely can only be used for flour

the corn -> polenta recipe doesn't make more food than you started with though, unlike the other recipes. It just changes an amount of corn into an equal amount of polenta instead of 3->5.
I'm pretty sure the primary trick to handling deserts is: focus more on berry gatherers than farms. Doesn't need to first produce water, then produce food, and you'll probably have to have your farm on cacti at some point for water for your herbs/mushrooms as well as any supplemental corn you want to grow.

Yep, focus on berries for the long stretches of dry weather, as it requires zero water to harvest! I have a farm for each species of plant so regardless of where I go the entire food distribution system is automated.
