Left button and "q" key bug for Atelier Ryza; Ever darkness & the Secret Hideout

anyone else experiencing a bug with the left button not working on xbox controller and or the "q" key not working in Atelier Ryza? ; I'm not being able to do the next quest in the game which is to equip the reaper scythe. this quest is early on in the game. i will appreciate any feed back, ty.

I think you can only equip the scythe while in Ryza's room.
