Can someone explain for me the combat system?
Im not familiar with turn base system yet. The only one i have played is Persona 5. Anyway recently i just preorder this and saw the combat trailer on Youtube. It look like it has a timer for turns??? I thought turn base is "take your time to make the best decision instead of just mindlessly attack"?
Thanks

Its action turn based, meaning its turn based but more fast paced and something is consistently going on

Does "action turn based" mean if I don't take an action the game will wait for me to take my turn, or that I will miss my turn? Because the latter just sounds like real-time combat with cooldown timers, not "turn based".

basically each character have to wait for a cooldown time before they can use a turn, same rule applies to enemies, you take as much time as you want before you give the characters a command however it is recommended to use that turn asap because if you take way too long to do a command, the enemy will keep dealing damage to you, look up games like Final Fantasy 7 or OFF to get a better idea

Ugh... I was afraid of that. I LIKE turn-based combat. This... this I do NOT like. :steamsad:

If you played Final Fantasy games, you can expect something similar in Ryza's fight system. That means you need haste to use your turn when it comes, or enemy can take advantage of theirs, dealing more damage to you than you to them.

I am surprised so many ppl now claim they prefer tb when everyone used to rave about active time systems.

Game gets an active time system and now ppl act like they never heard of such a thing! ( not ppl in tgis thread per say. )

U like tb myself. But I'm willing to overlook and hope for the best. Real time with pause isnt the worst thing in. A full action game may be really bad for this fanchise though.

Biggest complaint I have about ryzas combat is the lack of camera work. Fancy camera work in combat can make it more exciting. Its lacking in ryza compared to some prior games.

What pause? About the only thing I've heard so far that doesn't make this a "full action game" is that you don't move around the battlefield.

its real time with pause, you can see it in many videos online.

pause is optional ofc. a lot of people are just playing it full active time. but if you want to manipulate what each unit does, you can leverage the pause.

you can see it a few times in this guys video but at 44 and 50ish minutes. steam isn't accepting the time stamp T_T
