is this a reference to shadowelite? also ryza is the best selling atelier game so yes

franchise didn't need saving though, so its a faulty viewpoint.

its always been niche, for the entire 20 years or so of it's existence...

Since Gust has a 1 year release cycle, games where they try new things always suffer from qualities issues. I've heard with this game they went for short but good quality rather than full length but Janky. Whether or not that was the right move, we will soon find out.

Atelier never needed saving, it has always made a profit. Now its just even better, going from sticc to thicc was the best decision.

Based on Japan's sales, yes. Which is funny because I would have thought they couldn't give any number of ♥♥♥♥♥ about "thiccness"
Ruhan Oct 20, 2019 @ 9:39am
I think it's less about thiccness and more about the presentation of said thiccness.

By the way, how does it compare with the older games? Never played an atelier before.

if you have never played Atelier games before why would you care if it's better than the other games or not ? it's not like you would understand if we explained so just buy the game if you want.

get L&S or Lulua first, they are cheaper, if you like those games then proceed to Ryza and if you don't like them, don't bother about getting Ryza

The console version has already been released.

A game can also sell copies due to hype generated and successful marketing. That doesn't really mean a thing. Even NBA 2K20 sold thousands of copies and it sits at 18% on Steam.

My point is, sales aren't indicative of a product's quality, otherwise we'd give the awards to the best selling games and call it a day. It only correlates because the more volume of players you have playing your game the more feedback you get.
