Try to move all of your units to the very top of the map and order your archers to fire but hold a tight leash on them because they may still enter the damn river. If they do gtfo asap and try again until you can shoot.
Unlike Infantry, Calvary doesn't suffer from the slowdown in rivers. We can use that to our advantage. Once your troops are at the north at the edge, just move all over the river. Your Calvary wants to lock down the nearest enemy Archer there, while your Gerald keeps on healing. You will suffer some losses, depending on what level your Gerald is and what resistances he has. I usually had about 1/4th loss at maximum for Gerald. Once you are out of the river you can destroy the archers pretty easily or you just go to the end point to finish the mission. This requires about 450 SP for 3 heals, of course the more SP the better.
